Everyone Attention..

If you want ship your fragile glass or cremaic wha..ever you put into the box of parcel.. use Postal office...

I advise you DON'T!! Best use UPS OR OTHERS COURIER.. will be always careful w/your fragile things inside the parcel.. Trust that.. IMO!


I got parcel one of my friend who send me the parcel.. I opened.. :eek3:

surprsied all the pieces of broken... I'm so very upset... and way way way pissed off w/post office.. unfortunally don't know which one responbile for us postal office or canada post office or Border custom did opened the checking inside parcel.. oppiSe.. broken.. *cover up wrapping whole thing* and ship it out..

Very diffculties deal w/this one...

I'm sorry to hear what happened to the mail box that sent to you.

and I'll be careful if I send anything fragile to anyone by post

Yeah us/caada postal office can be dont care just throw it .. same with greyhound bus too .. When my ex boyfriend just moved to live with me that he did mailed his own boxes send to greyhound bus to my home and I asked him if it is ok I open and he said yes so I did check there are few broken his stuff glass candle, his wood shelf, his plates and other more. He got so upset that some few his stuff are brokens. that guys from greyhound just throw it and broken few of his stuff.
 
I uses the post office many times in the previous past with glasses that needs to be handle with care, not once had been broken. From what I've heard that you never mail glass during the winter season thru regular ground shipping at the post office, (because it takes 4 to 6 days and if the weather becomes too cold the glasses will break) It has to be in room temperature. The person must go through FedEx or get Priority at the post office (next business day or 2 days) and must pay insurance coverage, it's very cheap too, if something goes broken or lost they will pay the shipper for how much the items are worth. (I do this all the time.)

All we can do is pack the very best with bubble wrap - lots of it and foam padding. ;)
 
GA, I am sorry to hear about your parcel package. Thanks for the warning to use UPS better. Did the package have a fragile label? If so, that was just careless postal service like DM said, they just throw and don't care.
 
Does you see any wrapping on stuff, such as soft bubble to prevent from break and label as fragile on box? If so then PO should be know better about fragile stuff but not all PO are doing a bad stuff, just depends on location and people in their service.

For me, If I need send an fragile stuff then I would wrapping with soft bubble and label as fragile, plus send via UPS.
 
well they say it's not their responsibility to pack it right as this time of the year they must check inside.. the best is not to send glass or fragile stuff on high peak season. As i know about Fedex, they'll say people need to pack it up themselves as Fedex people don't have to baby ya cause no time to check every single parcel.. sadly but better than trying to wait for the parcel to come on time.. I can't imagine working at the Post office at this time of the year. OUChies.. sorry about the broken stuff..

CORRECT, with BIG letters all over the box... as you may have to pay abit more to have it handled with care... I rather pay more and also get insurance on it so you will be covered if broken it can be replaced I hope...
 
It was me to send it out and I am very upset too. I went to Postal center usa cuz they pack it up for me and did everything what they are supposed to do and I guess she was careless. I told her it was fragile. Geez I am gotta go see her tmw and explain the situation to her.
 
I know how you feel GalaxyAngel, it happened to me during my first wedding, my aunt send me a beautiful crystal glass pitcher through UPS, it was wrapped with newspapers, there's nothing left but broken pieces..I wrote my aunt a letter as soon as I got her package, she told me she was going to call the UPS but sadly she did not pay for any shipping insurance coverage. :(
 
At anytime you send out the fragile please add an insurance for your protection. As I do that to mine.

That's right.

When sending fragile stuff, it's best to put it in a big box with lots of padding and to have insurance included. There are also fragile items rate as well. Did you tell them that it was a fragile item in there?
 
As an UPSer for 12 years, I know how it is, those younger employees does not give a shit if theres even a labeled "Fragile" on a box. They just throw it in the container or trailer to be shipped out. So often there's breakables such as wine bottles, glass, so on. The best thing you can do is get the insurance for the fragile or perishable things that you send. Often the package stack up and the weight of other package would crush the weak box and break contents inside.

There's never any immune to fragile packages when you send out to Post Office, Fed Ex, UPS, or whichever. High chance it will become damage or broken when it gets to designation. Like I said if you ship fragile items, buy insurance to cover the cost that's the only way.

It sucks when people carelessness about the way they treat a customer's package. It sure costs business (UPS, FedEx, P.O.) a lot of money to pay for damages to customers.
 
Just remember when sending packages thru UPS that the first $100.00 valuation coverage is free. So if your item is worth less than 100 buks, no need to buy insurance. I assume that's the same with other couriers but not sure.
 
Geez!! I do not like order the flower plants because I do found it frozen in package :(

Yes, but it is optional (for under $100) to those shipper if they want to have insurance on the contents as some have tight budgets and can't afford to get new one if something breaks on the way.
 
I am very sorry to know how you feel about those damage stuff, GalaxyAngel.

It's best thing is use air cushion foil or foam foil for fragile goods like glasses, vases, etc. and then ask post office to get fragile label on the parcel. I alway do that for years with no problem. Fragile goods won't get damage due cold weather with the help from air cushion foil or foam foil because it keep stuff warm.

I am total surprised that UPS do not have any insurance including automaic unless you ask for it. :confused:

Normally, UPS always have insurance including automatic and for Post Office, you have to ask for add insurance extra.

Wrapped with newspapers can't protect glasses but air cushion foil or foam air.

Right!! I always purchase insurance even if it's above $50.00. :)
