Any advices about Laptops or Notebooks?

stupidly expensive

I can tell you without hesitation that the trackpad on MacBook Pro put all of the laptops to shame. Perhaps it may be "expensive" to a lot of people.... a $300 laptop will end up costing you more in the long run than a $1,200 laptop. The cheaper the laptop, the more likely you are going to encounter problems with them.

I own a MacBook Pro at a discounted price through a friend who works for Apple. It's worth every penny. I imagine the same is for these "fancy" Sony laptops.

I still own a PowerMac G4 Dual 1.25GHz (PowerPC) that I got in 2002. That's 8 years and there's still nothing wrong with it. I have upgraded it on several occasions without a problem. I use it every single day. I do a lot of graphic design on it without a problem.

So yes, the saying, "You get what you pay for" is true. The thing is, a computer is a long-term investment. At least it is to me because I don't want to buy a new one every couple years. It's a waste of money.

I wouldn't buy a $300 laptop. Ever.

Like I said, people shouldn't use the pricing as a factor in deciding what computer to buy.

Would you buy a Yugo car just because it's cheaper?

Yeah, I didn't think so.

my main issue with Apple is its uptight proprietary policy and lazy security updates but I still like Apple for webdev only. and yep - its trackpad is frickin' awesome.

Nobody's perfect. I know Apple has flaws of its own, but they do make good computers.

yup.... not good enough for me to justify the cost.

lol productivity wise.... I bought 5 computers for the price of a macbook.. and i have made so much more ou of them than I would have out of a macbook. so yea.

I currently have about 7 toshiba laptops. They're great stuff.

Delectable, hit me up with an IM when you can, and I'll show you links to the goods.

Oh, DO NOT go with 2 gb of ram in any circumstances if you have w7. Get 4.

Honda. Not cheap, not expensive. just a reasonable price :)

Reasonable? That's really a matter of perspective. One could think a certain product is cheap while one would think it's too expensive.

on general level - BMW is expensive. Yugo is cheap. Honda is reasonable. I believe everybody of all income levels would agree.

I don't need 7 laptops. To think of it, I don't need 7 HDTVs, 7 cars, 7 houses too as well.

Like I said, it's a matter of perspective. One will say it's reasonable while one would say otherwise.

it's purely relating to professional work. That's why I had 5 computers. Now I trimmed it down to 2 because I developed a better and efficient work habit.

I bet you that most people driving Yugo know they're driving a cheap piece of shit but they have no choice :lol:

The more efficient, the less wasteful you are.

Thankfully, I never had the need to get more than two computers at a time. I lived with just one for years and I didn't have problems.

It's just a matter of getting your needs met which is important.

Well, when it to Yugo, there's no doubt. :lol:

However, it's true about what I said though. People have different mindsets in how they see the pricing of products they are interested in.

yup. learned the hard, expensive way. Now I primarily use 1 computer for everything and I have a recently-bought laptop that I hardly used. Wished I never bought it. oh well.

My computer which is very reasonably priced is plenty enough for my needs... for now. Next purchase? probably Apple but not anytime soon.

Yugo = eMachines and Toshiba

Honda = Dell and Sony

BMW = Apple

:lol:

I had few PC notebooks and they were short life span. they were junk.

Actually, I would say Dell is falling there to the Yugo level these days. Toshiba is actually decent. So is Asus.

Lenovo... what a turd. Not to mention it's somewhat expensive for what it is. A turd. :lol: I've had to work on a few of these laptops for some of my clients. Nothing to write home about.

Acer is one to avoid too as well.
