I MAY be moving out of my parents and on my own...deaf wise what do I need to know to put in apt? I'd ask for something not on ground level of course..:ty:

Best to ask if you can have the special door/fire alarm installed and etc if ya can buy that system and then as for permission and ya can explain why ya need that system or so... the landlord for the apt would be understanding for sure.. I hope ya find the place ya want for yourself but do look around and see what can fit you budget-wise and how ya can live and work and be able to enjoy living on your own..

Other than the basic check with furnishings, utilities etc, leave that to you to figure out.

Be sure to get renter's insurance.
Not sure what's the equivalent in Canada but here in the states it's like $10 US a month or $150-300 a year depending on the plan you choose.

Basically when natural disasters, burglary or theft occurs, you will be covered for cheap. Unless you won't have too many valuables in the apt, there's no reason to skimp on this.

With that being said, do you plan to have roomies or your own personal complex?

let's see..... get a VP and strobe for:

1. fire alarm
2. door knock
3. telephone (get a CapTel or equivalent)
4. uuummm.......

This is true, but there is more than that. Renter Insurance usually have ID thieves coverage PLUS liablity protection. Supposed your apartment got on fire and you were found at fault, you can be sued for the damages. That is what Renters insurance covers.

Make sure not to live in Vanier area! It is the most dangerous area in Ottawa.

I could not recall that Barrhaven has any apartment buildings as I know Nepean has had several good ones.

How about Glebe where I currently live? :) I love it very much.

the glebe is too far from everything ...like my work and school etc and family..i'd rather be close to family ya know

What's the major good and bad cities in Canada?

well there aren't many actual BAD cities in canada..however there are smaller communities that are bad in cities i guess..toronto has a lot of crime though and prolly vancouver but other than that we don't have THAT much high rate crime cities

What's the major good and bad cities in Canada?

It depends on which parts of these cities.

Like I said recently that Vanier is the most dangerous part of this city where I have lived.

In Vancouver, it would be Downtown East.

In Toronto, it is Jane and Finch Streets area.

When looking for places I'd check with the management/landlord or whoever youd need to ask first before getting the place about making alterations to put in those things youd want to have like the visual fire alarm/strobe since it may require changes/wiring and such to the apartment itself. It would suck to get a place and then be told you cant change anything to install something.

Vancouver got a few more spots. A family friend gave me a list of all the neighbourhoods to avoid.
