Your home, preparing for...

Yes they passed new law require to have the front headlight on for fogs, rains, and snow etc.. but not have to turn it on for all day.. no.. only while rains, fogs and snows.. thats it.. and yes it will get darker as the daylight savings time will end this Sunday at 2 am.. so we will have to turn one hour backward and will not change till April.. One more hour to SLEEP.. yaya!! lol

my car always have headlight on.. cant turn it off?? lol.. thats ok with me.. im not complaining.., heh.. :)

Here's no needed change the tires... Unless your RESPONBILE if skids.. Cost problem way increase the car insurance.. people's responbile taking care of their vechile..

Ever year, We always accurate changing rotation tires on Nov and check oil and everything our suv making sure prepare for ready winter incoming.. (pssssssssst) Hate expense on OIL CHANGING 5 DIFFERENT HOLES FOR OIL... related tires/gear shift 1/2/H/L that using for mud or heavy snow... Live w/it.. (chuckles)

When Sunset down , Must turn light on... No need highbeam... no car around pass by.. can use high beam.. if car is coming..goes beam off.. If snow white out.. turn highbeam requires YES..

That's all I know in Ontairo law (canada)

Pretty interesting information about your states law pretty tension for me..

Espically North Cailfornia.. Requires put chain on tires because prevent skid down hill steep.. Lot people who live on the top of mountain (I forgot name area) I've been there.. wow.. Pretty interesting!

I'm supposing to turn heater on at begin of November but I didn't because the weather here is not very cold.... :D... Save oil expense... :thumb: We still use fire places sometimes, not much...because there're no cold in house...

I know what you mean. Our weather is in the 70's and 80's during the day, so it is not cold enough yet.

*sniffing* cannot set up plastic windows to prevent leak reason why.. I have 3 kittens did *ripped* one plastic window... Isn't worth it.. *guess so, I gonna use little bit increase heater* ((mumbling))

As for me, I'd make sure there's the usual and the very familiar routine that we all go through every year whenever the cold front comes up is to do - make sure there's no drafts and things like that. I also tend to leave the heating temperature on the same temperature because if you change it too often, of course that makes the price increases. Gotta bundle up or otherwise we'd be shivering.

By the way for you lovers out there - The Body Heat is the best way to keep warm on the cold night *grins* I'm sure you get my drift.

It's been pretty chilly here lately, during the days It'd be in the late 50's but however at night it gets to the late 30's - early 40ish. Brrr that's something I don't want to look forward - the very cold weather where we can see our breath coming out of the mouth.

Winterizing

I have finished winterizing my home. I put outside water faucet cover on...put the outside AC cover on...put new window seals in, and fixed a brick wall that had missing mortar. Fixed that finished, now no drafts in basement. I am not going to really WORRY too much this year about the cold because this is our FIRST year using the wood stove insert (it stick inside actual fireplace) with burning seasoned oak. I finish experience using wood stove about 5 times so far now. All I can say? WOW!!!! It heat up my 1,400 sq house EASY!! Last night I stocked my stove up before go to bed....this morning I wake up...temp what? 80 degree and it about 30 degree outside!! WOW! I like warm enough for me to wear shorts in house while it 20 to 30 degree outside. Some time it get TOOOO hot..I open window little bit to rush cold air in to cool room a little. Wife and I agree to turn heater on, but since we have programmable thermostat...we plan to leave heater on at 64 degree 24/7 in case fire go out in wood stove or whatever.

Anyway..I think I am all ready to go for winter. Will be going to family get together to cut more firewood. There will be 3 of us..so expect to cut 5 to 6 cords in 1 day hopefully.

:bump:

Is anyone ready to winterize their homes this year? I have noticed that the weather is starting to get a little bit cooler now. I have been to the point to get myself prepared to winterize my place for this year's winter.

So, On monday I'd have to go to the store to get some caulkings, sealants, plastic window covers, replace the filters. I have a space heater but I'd need to get another one so that way I can balance by using the heating gas and the electricity. Last year's heating gas bill was not great for me - So I'm trying to improvise to do something better for this year.

Is there any more tips that can be shared too? I'd appreciate it. ;)

Edit: I forgot to mention this - Is there any other tips that can be for those who are on a limited budget other than getting the local heating assistance?

I probably will need to get weatherproof stuff for my front and back doors. I also have a fireplace but probably won't use it. I have central heating and AC, but will keep the temp very low since I live in Texas. I probably won't have to turn the heat on til maybe November or so.

Just checked my furnace, making sure it works just fine. Even though it is only 3 years old, STILL need to make sure it works fine because last minute servicing can be very expensive! I have been watching natural gas price, and the future price on NG is dropping and that is good news!

Yeah I love this time of the year. Not to cool, not to hot..But really not looking forward to the C-C-C-COLD winter months :cold: But checked the furnace out & ready to go.

I live in southern CA so I dont have to worry too much about cold weather but it does get COLD at nites in Jan and Feb here!! It can get down to 30 degrees--especially if you live inland near the mountains.

I plan to get my warm thick blankets out when it starts getting cold at nights. The windows in my apt leaks but darn, Im not the owner so I cant get it new seals. I will be using gas heater during the coldest nights later on for a few hours since the apt is small and easy to heat up. Im going to start wearing pants to work
