Sara, I am not here to be criticize you. I just warning you about HP compaq gone WORSE than ever.. I experienced with my woman's Compaq laptop. I looked another forums about Compaq and hp laptop issues, i realized that slightly many people are complaint their hp laptop issues which is similar with my woman's laptop problem. HP's Motherboard won't long LAST!

You wanted good quality and last, then get High-end laptop.

Your thought is my mainly concerning. :)

I heard TV NEWS and Newspapers say that MAC lost customers to PC market.

I watched "I am a PC" commercial on TV, Little guy told his mother, Nah 13inch macbook is damn small, he choose PC over Mac after mother encouraged him get MacBook. I *applause* little guy aka SubTeen boy, His right decision bought Sony Vaio FW laptop with blueray over Macbook!

Wow, you really believe what commercial said. Did you know Macbook done have 13.5", 15.5" and 17.5" boy need buy the glasses or lack of knowledge about Apple like you. Who know?

:laugh2: I find it funny about the commerical.. which people finds a laptop for $1000...then they say "It's a PC" and they're happy...they keep saying negative things about Mac....:roll: "Oh, it's too small" I thought lot of people wanted small computers....:shock:
 
It's called marketing. They know that they're losing customers to Macs so they're gonna try every trick in the book to influence the population to buy their product. It's about money!!! I just wanted a high-end laptop for the lowest price and got one for $700. 2.2gHz dual-core, 256mb nVidia 8600GT graphics card, webcam, 2hr battery life, 160gb memory, 2gb ram, CD/DVD burner, Vista Home Premium. It's served me well since I got it.

Anyways, when it comes to quality and reliability - go for HP, Dell, Toshiba or Mac. I had a compaq and knew a couple friends who had compaqs as well. It was unfortunate that I paid $650 for a really crappy laptop. We all had trouble with it and sold them. As of now, I have my dell and it's never caused me any troubles as serious as the compaq Plus it's really fast.

Technology has always been finicky with us. It's always a good idea to be safe and smart about our habits in front of the screen.

And remember, the less you pay for a computer, the more problems you will have with it. The opposite is true for more expensive computers - faster and has fewer problems.

The most important thing is to find a computer that best fits your needs (be it MSWord, graphics manipulation, gaming, processing, internet and so forth) Do not worry about what you're supposed to get, worry about what works for you.

Btw, I spent about 8 months researching laptops til I found one that's perfect for me.

Who cares about laptops? I bought a 90MHz laptop for $100 several years ago and used it a few times. My desktop is so much better! I have a full size keyboard, mouse, monitor(32"!) and it's faster, cheaper and less problems than a laptop! I paid $200 for this desktop last year and it's faster than most laptops costing much more.

Depend what you WANT or NEED. I need laptop because I am travel a lot.
 
I don't travel that often so a laptop isn't really needed for me. A desktop works fine for me.

if i open laptop boxes i cant return to stores dues policy i would respectfully when i got gateway 3 years ago and i didnt return to store but still workout but sometimes have troubles with that..
 
I bought an HP laptop for my daughter on eBay a couple years ago. It works fine.

I also bought a used Mac a few years. It too is fine.

If you're careful you can get good deals on eBay.

thanks for tell me about ebay my mom and my aunt surf on ebay about sell anythings

but i look on internet expect http://www.walmart.com, http://www.bestbuy.com and Buy.com - Computers, Electronics, Digital Cameras, Books, DVDs, Music, Games, Software, Toys, Sports but im not sure what types i would chose i will get brand types of laptop computer but mostly people chose toshiba or whatevers brand laptop they can good computer than lousy computer..

im using my mom's laptop for while till i get new one somedays but dont worry about that but my mom's laptop is gateway also but its slow!! im really hates!!
 
Recently, I got new laptop last week. I got rid of my older computer that it was 9 yrs old. I was very happy and enjoyed on my new computer. I noticed that it is faster than my older computer. My laptop has bT and Wifi wireless card inside. I will get free upgrade windows 7 when it will release.
