Ariakkas said:you should go down to the rape/battered womens shelter and tell them that being raped is the same as bieng offended....see i can take things completely out of context just as easily as you.
I can give you a reference to an academic paper that describes the moral rationalization mechanism I'm talking about in more detail (as well as other ways in which people rationalize wrong actions). People use it in many circumstances in which they are trying to justify something they know to be wrong, ranging all the way from small verbal slights all the way up to physical attacks. It's the form of rationalization that's the link, not the severity of the circumstance in which it is employed. Simply ask and I will provide the citation of the paper.
are you somehow being denied the same rights as everyone else? is there a law that says it's illegal to be a christian...or are you somehow discriminated against in the community because your a christian....i highly highly doubt it.
For the most part I have been fortunate, as an American, but there have been times where I have been treated with prejudice.
my point, since it obviously flew over your head...is that when you are the majority, you are open to attacks...ala republicans or any other organization....its just a simple fact, like it or hate it...thats how it is.
I understood exactly what you were saying. What I do not agree with is the idea that just because one is in the majority, that it's open season on that type. Just because that's what often happens in the world is not the same as its being morally right to do.
