Im going to pick my new hearing aids up here in a bit! Wish me luck, I hope they work better!!! I will be back later to let you all know how they are!!

Hey everyone! I just got home from the Audi. I got 2 Starkey Destiny 1200 Power BTE.. The ear molds are clear I will take pictures later and show you all. They are also the hard molds which are going to take some time to get used to. But they work soooo much better!!!! I can hear things more clearly and this was definitely the best decision for me. I love my new Audi he is really great.

The only thing I am really upset about is having to pay $3500.00 for them. They only too 40% trade in on the aids that I had gotten from my old audi which I understand but it still sucks that my other Audi took me for 5k and it only included service for one year. At my new place its for lifetime. But these and hearing is so worth it. We did discuss FM systems as well and when I go in next week we will go over things. I did purchase an alarm clock today that shakes my bed =) I will be sure to post pics later so look for them!

I am glad you seem happy with your new ha's candybrowneyes. As for the earmolds, you do learn to adjust to them.
Bed shaker alarms are a trip. The first time I used mine, it scared the c__p out of me and I jumped out of bed, as did my cats. Now, it's just like any alarm and I hit the snooze more often than not. It's ok, as I have it set a half hour ahead, just in case :giggle:

Yeah, it sucks that they're so expensive.

I went to a paintball event with some friends and some of them know that I'm hard-of-hearing. When I they tried to talk to me, I told them I couldn't hear because I wasn't wearing my hearing aid. They asked why I wasn't wearing my hearing aid. When I told them that my hearing aid was $2,500... they nearly choked. "What!? $2,500!? WTF!? Good idea you're not wearing them here at paintball!" ;)
 
I don't understand anything when it comes to audiograms but if you say that they are sooooo much better I am so happy for you :D

3 500!! WOW!! That's like a lot of money... just for one HA or two? Whatever it's a LOT!!! What kind of possibilities do you have to pay so much? A little bit each month?

Bf and I earn quite some money each month (no bragging, just saying...) but I mean, there's rent to pay, car to pay, insurance, etc... We wouldn't just be able to pay 3 500 at once!

Yeah, they were both 3520.00. Regular price for the set was 5200.00. I got them for the 3520 because they took my other aids which werent even a year old at a 40% trade in. So I had to pay the remainder up front. I took a loan out to pay it. Just back in October is when I paid the 5k for the first ones to my old audi. A lot of the cost too is for service. so I lost out on that =( At this place they really dont have a payment plan, the other Audi I had did though. It sucks that insurance wont cover them. My insurance said they were cosmetic which is rediculous.

HA's are now being considered as cosmetics... :werd: Why? *confused* because you got them in a certain color? different shapes? On what kind of regulations does the insurance say that?

I'm still baffled by the costs of CIs and HAs you guys have to put up just because you happen to be Hoh or Deaf :shock: - urgh...

Cosmetic doesn't mean it makes you look better in this instance. It means it is not necessary to preserve your life.
