No I wouldn't, for many reasons, It's illegal to pick up hitchhikers, some homeless people can be aggressive, and safely and health reasons. I don't want to take no risks, I would rather to live than die.

If they need emergency assistance, I'll point them to the nearest shelter or provide them money. :thumb:

I teach my children never to accept any lift from strangers.

My vote is NO

Nope, I don't... But, I will stop and ask them if they need a ride -- this is only if I know them. I only did this once, picking a black man up -- well, actually he asked me at the store, if I could drop him off at his home. He was an employee of my parents'. :)

I wouldn't give them ride because for safety reasons. Even at bus stops, some of them ask me for money to ride on bus or give them ride on bus, I say I am sorry but no thanks. I only have bus pass with me, so I rarely bring cash with me.

For myself, I wouldnot pick any homeless or give any money for two big reasons for me to not trust cuz for number 1 to not pick homeless cuz of crimes as murders and number two is that they would only want drugs or drinking becuase I have seen alot of homless in few states .. I highly recommend that pls do not pick up homeless or anyone who is hitchhiking because of crimes or theives.
I want to say something everytime I go to grocery stores in Tallahassee i seen few homeless walking byppls and ask for money but instead of went in store and purhcased and returne and repeat doing it few times until they got kicked out and for two that they walked by ppls after they purchased grocery (foods) and they ripped and steal foods that what happened to two elder ppls and the store director rushed to make the arrest.. It is too risky for that!! Be careful!!

I would give hobo a meal from Mcdonald, bible book, holy water and 1,000 Pesca as I hope he or she go to Mexico and never go back to US.

Hi Fei Ku,

If I was you, I would call the church and have the church members drive to the spot where the homeless person is and the church can give food, a basic kit ( toothbrush , toothpaste , deodorant , small soap etc ) as well as a small Holy Bible and a tract. The church can take the homeless person to a homeless shelter.

You also can call the police and they will check the homeless person first and if there are no warrants out for his arrest then they will bring the homeless person to the shelter.

I would not approach a homeless person or give money because of one reason. Many homeless individuals just got out of prison or are running from the law.

I learned this from many police officers to keep safe and away from homeless people and if you want to do that then call the church and you can give a bag of food etc. then they will take the bag to the homeless person for you.

This way you are able to keep safe and the homeless person will not know you gave the bag of food or a basic kit to the homeless person.

Some of the nicest people I have ever met were homeless, and it is tragic that their numbers are growing daily. When you think about it, most of us are just a couple of paychecks away from falling thru the cracks, and that is sort of frightening, huh?
I was homeless myself for a few months, and let me tell you, it is no fun.
