Would you or have you ever dated/married/ are married to a hearing person? How did that go? My father is almost deaf without his hearing aids and he is even pretty deaf with them in. He married a hearing woman. She and her family leave him out of most conversations. He sits there and smiles or reads. It is pretty sad. What are your experiences?

I did date few hearing boys back when i was younger. Its hard at begining because of commuincate barrier but afterwhile they learn how to sign. I felt that its better off for me to date a deaf guy because of commuincate. I mean full commuincate without a barrier. u know. If a hearing guy know 100% sign language then it would be fine.

I prefer hearing because more mature, have stability job, etc...I've had bad experienced with deaf men in the past...I would not want to tolerate with deaf men anymore! ;)

I dated 2 times when I was 16.. then after that.. never dated hearing guys... somewhat, hearing guys just wasn't interested in me or I might have scared them away. I'm not sure if I would date hearing guys.. just depends on how I feel. If I'm comfortable with that guy, then I might as well. but if I'm not.. then I'm not going to.

that's why I haven't dated hearing guys in 15 years because of the communications. If the guy knows sign language and knows how to communicate well, I think I'll be okay with that. If he has no idea how to communicate then he's out of my league.

I used to date/marry a hearin' guy in the past. I prefer deaf better - that's for me. Reason: Communication.

I am so in love with my current man. He is deaf, but he could lip readin' and talk well just like a hearin' person. He is employed. :)

I was married to a hearing man for 15 years but now in a new relationship with a hard of hearing gentleman ....

I was younger in high school. I dated many many hearing man. My dad liked one hearing indian man. My dad wanted me marry with him. I won't it. My dad and I argued each other because I was very scared and will problem communicate. If man hearing call phone cheat on me? I had lot fun dated with hearing men. I had good experienced hearing men. I wanted marry deaf man period. Dad kept told me no no!!! Dad believed that hearing man can hear torando, or other things for my protector. I kept wont it! I married oral deaf man now. My sec husband is very good speak and wear hearing aids. Thank God my sec husband is very hardest work job. Our successful new house and new car. I noticed other deaf men play around no jobs.

I am very bad experienced that first former husband play around and quit many many jobs. He not successful life! Now, he suffered and cant find a jobs for long times. I guess it bad history his life. It not my plm!

I curious, How you feeling different Hearing man and now you relationship with hard of hearing man?

Long time ago I did date hearing man and married one but I prefer deaf/hoh guy. Right now I am dating with a deaf guy. :D

I used to date alot of hearing guys in the past before i got married. The communication was the problem. They were really lovely guys but the communication was Crap!! Some of them won't learn ISL (Irish Sign Language) which was unfortunate for me. When i met my hubby who is Deaf. The communication was alot better and i can tell him anything like a best friend do. It wonderful!! He have ISL as well as vocal (talk like normal hearing person), he is partially deaf. I am very happy with him. LOL

One wise advice: For successful marriage, communication is the key.

If hearing is willing to sacrifice his/her world for other, willing to learn sign language and make it a default language in the family, to participate other with his/her family *AND MOST IMPORTANTLY* intense passion into deaf culture then that will be *GREAT*!

I've seen a married couple, a hearing guy that knows sign language proficiently and yet made fun of deaf people "Wish I could not marry a deaf gal, I must be sooo stupid! Deaf people are retards!". He was very interested into sign language and all that, and his attitude eventually turned again deaf people because he didn't *LOVE* deaf culture at the first place.

Been dated hearing guys. about 2 of them are very interesting in sign language, but one problem, they all don't understand deaf culture. Alike, they was wonder why we all spends with friends than family. They need to understand that all deafies think friends are family who understand deafies.

I been dated hard of hearing. Haven't date a deaf person. I feel comfort with hard of hearings i don't know why. The fact communication and need to understand what they re..

I've dated more hearing guys than I do with Deaf guys, Communication is the key to a sucessful relationship, So it doesn't matter whoever I marry, I am not planning on getting married any time sooner or in the nearest future, I rather to stick with being single, It's more fun and I get all the freedom to do whatever I want. ;)

I'll sheepishly admit that I have never dated a hearing woman, that does not know ASL. And I can safely count on one hand, how many hearing women I've dated that do know ASL.

My vast preference is to date Deaf women, with a good knowledge of ASL. No communication problems gumming up the works! Also, it could be just me; I still do not feel comfortable around hearing people, and tend to respond only when spoken to. A few months ago, I went to a NYE party that was dominated by hearing people and rarely interacted with them, preferring the company of my Deaf friends, for example.

i did date hearing long time ago.. i like both hearing and deaf but prefer deaf cuz of communtion that important to me.. if this hearing know how sign then no plms for me.. smile..

I'm planning to get married to a hearing girl in a few months

I've been dated w/hearing guys and willing learn sign langauges turn it out uglier and using me.... *out of my league*

I've been dated w/DEAF guy and turn it out uglier because bad stabbing behind me back and abused me too.. *sigh* never like it.. (he is my ex) once!

I've been dated w/hard of hearing guy.. went smooth goes good and remain friend then found another guy (He is my man and married) :)
