Women's march....

Some thought the march was not inclusive enough:

Transgender activists are upset that the women’s march over the weekend was not inclusive to biological men who identify as women, as the protest presented an “oppressive message” that having a “vagina is essential to womanhood.”

Saturday’s event to oppose the inauguration of Donald Trump was largely a “white cis women march,” with too many pictures of female reproductive organs and pink hats, according to trans women and “nonbinary” individuals interviewed by Mic.com.

A fight is brewing between “trans-exclusionary radical feminists,” or “TERFs,” and transwomen, according to the article, “How the Women’s March’s ‘genital-based’ feminism isolated the transgender community....”

Thanks for the articles.
If I am brave enough, I will bring it up at the discussion tonight.

I've heard.. and seen some pictures, of men at the march(es) so not sure where they're coming from on that score... I wouldn't think that the March is purposefully excluding transwomen. The TERFs I've heard about...but are a small group.

And...Pro-Life Organizations complaining they were not welcome at the March.

That's what I'm saying. Why on earth did parents take their kids to such an event? They knew there was going to be nastiness happening.

If adults want to protest and attend that's fine. But why drag your kids into it?

That was one of the reasons why I didnt take my son. I cant speak for others. I read that several families wanted their children to experience democracy in America. HOnestly, I did not expect that many people and signs with cuss words. I honestly thought it may be small but WHOA!!!! Over 1 million people in DC alone.

At this march though they weren't saying these words or displaying these images in natural or informative ways. Everything was screamed, mocked, insulted, or crass.

I assume you don't go around wearing a six-foot tall three-dimensional vagina costume, or scream *bleeped* words in every sentence, or violently express hate for others all day.

At least in your own home you control the environment to which your kids are exposed. Someday your kids will be adults but they are not yet adults and they need protection from other adults when they are out on the public streets such as this march.

The chants that I was around (I was with a hearing friend and she told me what they were chanting about )did not include any cuzz words. They were:

"Bring MORE TRAINS" at the BWI train station where I went to get on the train to DC. It was PACKED!

"TAKE BACK OUR HOUSE" at front of the White House.

there were a few others but none included swear words. The only swear words I saw were on the signs and some of the speakers. Nobody expected Madonna to drop a few "f" bombs.

Yeah, DC is very big city and you have to keep out of sight as possible.

I had seen many nasty protest in DC so DC seems city with most protest in the nation. :hmm:

I'm small town guy so don't like to live in big city.

DC is the protest capital in the USA.

Those women march are pro-abortion so anti-abortion organizations decide to pull, but it won't discourage anti-abortion women to attend. They usually march separated from big women march to focus on different issues, beside abortion.

Men tend to oppose the abortion since women tend to support the abortion.

Foxrac, it was a Woman's March. many different issues. Altho' I did read where some Pro-Life women did march and their signs and banners were torn up...These women did agree on a lot of the issues, just not abortion....IMO, times are changing very fast (re: abortion)...I don't feel the Pro-Lifers should have been shunned from marching...Just like the Trans, Gay/Lesbian and straight women did. It was supposed to be for ALL Women.

Not surprised but abortion and same sex used to be taboo in the past. The liberalization of abortion laws didn't start until 60s and 70s. Pro-abortion women were harassed in the past as well.

Although, conventional abortion is declining because of advancement on birth pills and Plan B, also sex education as well.

In that big a crowd where they shunned for marching eveywhere. I seems to me the attitude would vary from place to place in that big a crowd.

Personally I believe we need to keep abortion legal to help prevent the loss of two lives from botched "back alley" abortions.

Whether people agree or disagree, we made history.

Oh and dont forget the fact that those women who voted for Trump are showing that they didnt care about his use of vulgar words. That it was ok so a lot of women were using that as a point by being vulgar back. However, for the most part, most people were dressed appropriately and signs were appropriate.

I was a woman who didn't vote for Trump in the primary but voted for him Nov. 8. His vulgar language offended me greatly, and still does. I hope that he changes. However, there was no way I could support and vote for Hillary Clinton.

I don't see how it makes sense to answer vulgarity with even worse vulgarity. To show displeasure with Trump's vulgarity the response should be done with class to emphasize the contrast. Getting down worse and dirtier is certainly not going to prove anything positive.

I'm glad to know that most people at the march were appropriate.

The March meant so many things to people, not just women. It is just part of a process.

Yes, I don't want women to die from illegal or back alley abortion, that's risky.

I'm questioning about safety of legal abortion in freestanding place that apart from hospital, but most insurance don't cover so they try to make more affordable as possible for women to pay with cash.

Back in 1970s, there were no sex education when my mother was in public school, but her parents talked about it, however other women had no idea and end up got pregnant. Time changes, conventional abortion is dropping as birth control pills and Plan B do great job, along with sex education classes.

You could vote independent candidate instead of him but it won't matter because South Carolina still go red state. My friends whoever are strict religious didn't vote him at all. It will send a message to him that people who are strict religious disapprove his campaign.

Sadly, most "religious" people in the southern states are pretty hypocritical nowadays, even they cussed out with God and insulted me for no reason, even they obsessed with porn.

I had sex education in the late 60's....

I don't think he got the message. He won the election.

I wouldn't say most.
