Woman used a pepper spray to cut in line up during Black Friday Shopping

Utterly insane. Not even worth the time and effort to stand in line. It'd be better spent at Disney World.
 
I honestly don't understand the whole Black Friday fad. Who really wants to stand in line for hours to buy something that is still on the shelf the other 363 days of the year. So it's cheaper? How about saving the extra $20 bucks and buying it under safer conditions? Or just buying it online? A friend of mine literally does all of his Black Friday shopping online, mostly on Amazon.com. Free shipping to your door and anything you want.

Some friends asked me to go along this time and said, "It's an experience you don't want to miss!" Really? I don't want to miss it? I think I do want to miss it! lol Eating leftover food from Thanksgiving and reading a book sounds much better to me.

I think for some people it is for the mob mentality, hype and experience. Something to put on a badge on your shirt and say "I survived black friday!". The doorbusters are also attractive which are the super slashed price for last year's stuff.

A lot of the people I talked to in line when I camped, were there because someone else was there too. I was there in 2006 to get a HDTV, that year when HDTV's were still new. When I bought mine and walked out the door, I was like the only few people with one.
 
Now you can just stay home and get lots of Black Friday deals online.

Yes, and it would probably be a lot more profitable for stores to run them online instead of in person. Less crime, domestic problems, vandalism and such.

I suppose the doorbusters are always a quick sale, though. It's like waving a 2010 car in front of someone's face for half off when the 2011's are out.
 
If you do going shopping on Black Friday you need to be careful and not have your pockets or pocket books get picked! People will be right on top of you. I will not shop in large crazy crowds!

I dont think so...just desperate to get the sales especially with the economy being so bad and then once the mob mentality hits, then people just get themselves in these kinds of situations or engage in behavior they normally wouldnt.

That's why I dont do my Black Friday shopping in the wee hours..I go much later like at 8AM. I managed to get a DSi 3D at a good price even though I went later. I dont want to put myself at that kind of risk of get trampled during the mad rush when a store opens its doors.
 
Sadly, it is a sign of our times. Narcissism and trying to find personal value in the amount of things you own.

Black Friday/Boxing Day sales are exactly the reason why I wait till January sales before doing any purchasing and as far as i can tell, January sales offer the same sale price points but not the same crazed mania. I really don't like being in crowded spaces and hate long lineups with a passion so January sales is more agreeable to my temperament :)
 
A few years ago, I decided to make as many of my gifts as possible (scarves and hats, mostly), and where that wasn't appropriate, I would order consumables on-line, things like fruitcake, mostly. Makes my Christmas preparations SO much easier!

Extent of my Black Friday shopping: 3 balls of luxury yarns at my local yarn shop.

Not cheap, it was over $80. But the recipients are going to LOVE these spectacular scarves coming from it.

Wasn't a woman killed on a Black Friday at a Wal-Mart a knew years ago? You would think Wal-Mart would be more careful how they have their Black Friday now. There is no way I will shop on a Black Friday! I do not want to be black and blue the next day!

It was an employee who got trampled to death when the doors opened.
 
I LOVE Black Friday!!! It's like football,hunting,people watching, MMA and shopping all rolled up into one.

I got lots of toys! :)
 
haha I work in San Leandro... That type of behavior is not that crazy, unfortunately. I was in San Francisco on Black Friday tho.
 
I'd say people are completely insane to go to Black Friday and behave like that.

:nono: :lol: Stuffed animals and barbies. I do my "Toys for tots" shopping on Black Friday so that i can do twice as much (or more). Kohl's had $20 Barbie sets for $7
