Woman killed in mountaintop proposal

That really is sad! I can't imagine being struck by lightning that way and just right before being proposed. Really sad.
 
My question is...why were they on top of a mountain during a lightning storm?

Lightning can come out of nowhere when you are on a mountain. I have seen lightning in New Mexico we it appears there are only a few non-threatening clouds
 
There was a poor guy struck by lightening on a golf course in Denver. No thunder or warning. It was a very sad freak accident. Maybe this was a freak accident, too?
