Woman breaks leg at hospital, told to call ambulance

Wow at the ambulance taking a half hour to get there. They must have been so confused during the initial call that it took 20 minutes to arrive at the conclusion that, YES, incredibly, yes, they were to beat feet to a hospital! :lol:
 
When I was health aide I had client that had broken arm and I could not believe how she got it! There was a police case that involved a guy refusing to stop for the cops, the suspect hit a few cars before being stopped and was taken to the hospital to be checked out. A police man was station out the suspect room at least this was to happen. My client arrived at the hospital with her granddaughter driving her. My client had arthritis in her arm and was in pain. While she was getting out the car the suspect ripped his IV out and escape pass the policeman and made it to front of the hospital , he see my client getting out of the car and he pushed her and her and her granddaughter to the ground and steal their car! My poor client arm got broken from the fall! She went the hospital for a check up and left with a broken arm!! And they never got their car back!!

When my grandmother broke both ankles in a fall (osteoporosis) the hospital would not transport her from the car to inside, they just brought a wheelchair.

I was a child, my mother was cripple...

Mom started judging the width of the double sliding glass doors and the car's width...

She was about to drive in but the security guard offer to lift Gram into the chair and push her in...

I was screaming... for her -not- to drive in...
 
FACEPALM/EPIC FAIL/JUST PLAIN DUMB!

What were they thinking? Hello? The incident occured in your facility, why even bother with an ambulance? Just get a freaking cot and move the patient to the ER for care! Sometimes you're just better off running down the halls screaming for a nurse.

Actually, I've heard of this...it has to do with the hospital insurance policy. I know if someone is right outside the hospital and needs help...the medical staff is NOT supposed to touch that person until the paramedics have handled it and bring him in. Another example of the insurance taking over common sense and decency of the human race.

Then why some nurses wheel people outside to car? I know some doctors do not like to help a person on that been hurt as they could get in a lawsuit.

But this happened INSIDE the hospital!
 
Based on what I gathered from comments..... 2 conclusions -

1. it seems that EMT (paramedics) are better trained or are equipped at handling this incident even though this occurred IN the hospital but it doesn't always mean that there was available qualified medical personnel on duty to help at that time.

2. security guard may have messed up there. a huge miscommunication perhaps.
