Yes i do wear hearing aid analog and have been since 11 yrs old.. before that it was a body aid.. i HATE it.. LOL.. it was not comfortable. boy I was so glad to get the bte yes for my bday gift from a secret person. i still dont know who?
i got the hearing aid and wore it for few hours then threw up.. lol.. and yes it was on my 11th birthday.. ugh! lmao
it does work for many years.. but not as clear as it ws back then.. i only can hear sounds.. but words.. sometimes nto clear.. and it can go up then come down.. i cant hear sometimes? when i cant hear its not worth to wear hearing aid? sometimes i think batteries is dead? i put new one in but not work? so i knew it is my hearing go away due to water .. thats why i have to take durietic pills to see if it help drain any out.. it does help but not fully clear as i would liek to.. with my ear aided it is in mild loss range, back then. but now?? its in moderate loss range so it does help somewhat.. depend on when it BEHAVE.. hehe..
I think i will try digital hearing aid. The audiologist who i saw today said the digital hearing aid is strong compare to analog so I might try that on a trial basis to see if it help me or not?? Other patient is testing it out right now thats why i dont have it right now.. so I will let you know how that goes when its my turn.. ok..
hehe..
I felt bad when I had read your bad experience with analog. I know it and have been there until
a few days ago. I had difficulty in understanding speech with my analog, too . I often was not be
able to hear people talking softly , either. With my digitals, I am much more comfortable while talking
to people.
Today, I was in a car with my friends.. The car ,of course, was a little noisy. In spite of this fact,
I was able to catch some of what they said to me and each other thanks to noise reduction feature
inside my digitals.I didn't have too much difficulty. I felt much more relaxed and didn't get too
much frustration as before.
I still have speech understanding problems, though. My digitals help me with 'hearing' sounds but
understanding is another issue that is brain related. I hope I can understand speech better as my
brains adapts to compressed sounds. I will see my audilogist tomorrow and talk to him about some
fine tuning. Perhaps, I may need several tunings during a few months so as to get full benefit from
my digitals.
Yes, digitals are much more strong than analogs and much more flexible.
As for you, if you have profound loss then you may not get much benefit from HAs including digitals.
Anyway, I sure advise you to try digitals.
I know I will never be able to hear 'naturally'.. I will never get normal hearing at least
before 15 years. I know there are some researches such as steam cell but it's still 'under
construction'. I miss so much the day when I can have the ability to hear without any devices .
I had so difficult stituations due to my loss
Many people tend to consider you 'stupid' if you are hearing impaired.
I never had a day when I didn't get frustration .
I hope you can get benefit from digitals.
Don't forget to inform me
