I need ur help. Is there any website listing for Terminal which can work on sidekick? I want more learn about it. I know how to using Ip-Relay on terminal. It's work.

7. Terminal Client icon, which looks like a mini computer, is now be visible on 'Jump' screen menu.

After downloading, set up the Terminal Client application.

1. Press 'Jump' button and click on 'Terminal Client' icon.
2. Press 'Menu' button and select 'New Host'.
3. Enter the following information in the fields provided:
1. Name: IP-RELAY.com
2. Host: wireless.ip-relay.com:2510
3. Protocol: RAW

How to place an IP-RELAY.com call on your Sidekick through the Terminal Client.

1. The next time you select 'Terminal Client' icon from 'Jump' screen menu, simply click on 'IP-RELAY.com'.
2. You will then be connected to IP-RELAY.com relay operator who will place your relay call.
3. To hang up, click 'Menu' button and select 'Close IP-RELAY.com'.

This isn't new. In fact, this is another diversion for IP-RELAY to delay releasing their application that they promised late last year. They hope to keep releasing these misleading press releases to divert attention from that promise.

Does this mean that if one wants to use IP-Relay after April 5th, and haven't yet downloaded the T.C. application, they're forced to pay to download or use the very program that is being temporarily used to enable IP-Relay? Why hasn't MCI created their own application as promised last year?!

Thats what I think the same thing as they will created their own application but the terminal?? I rather to able using sidekick to tty or relay. :ugh2:
 
I test my friend's color sidekick. This awful.

No incoming call.
Communication too far slow than I expect.
Too many people hang up on me because of ID caller.

I fear, there are more trouble with government on fund. One for video relay, one for state relay, tty im and online relay. :ugh: Too much.
 
speaking of calling relay, what the real number to call the relay service by calling tho TTY, 18007352989 or 711? what abt the long distance number to call through relay cos i tried 711 even its shld be a ld calls but it has to have a calling card id to get through, thats is crazy, i had these number and none of them has asked for calling card id... :roll: whats it with this world and BUSH!!!!!!

I have no phone home. Only my cell phone. I call anywhere without charge for long distance with 711 and my tiny tdd. :)
I paid only $30 monthly on 300 minutes on weekday plus unlimited minutes on night and weekend under AT&T wireless. wee! It's fun to call my 100 hearing family and 1,000 hearing friends. It save my butt anyway.

ideafspy, :werd: .... IP-Relay on the sidekick, it is awe-champion. I haven't go to use phone tty.. i using sidekick reliabe to in-relay.. its neat!! :thumb: go buy sidekick for your worth it!
 
I put matters into my hands and programmed a Linux TTY modem server that I can access over telnet/ssh. (Thank goodness I'm a programmer!)

Now I can access it from any wireless device I own (PocketPC, Blackberry, Sidekick) as long as it has a telnet/ssh client available. Instant wireless device freedom. My Linux TTY server is very similiar in behaviour to MCI's IP-Relay, but much faster. And I can call any TTY I want, rather than just Relay.

The latency is very good. Very fast. Much better than any wireless TTY solution I've used. Only 1 second transmission delay -- which makes my Linux TTY server faster than online relay services. (where the transmission lag is usually 2-3 seconds). It's realtime keypress-at-a-time transmission wireless TTY on my color Blackberry 7280 now, no need to type first and then press Enter. Configurable packettization/burstability - for word-at-a-time and halfword-at-a-time operation, or similiar to phrase-at-a-time operation, for networks that cannot handle keypress-at-a-time wireless transmission operation. Although Hiptop's "Terminal Monkey" software is confirmed to work with my Linux TTY server, I now use a color Blackberry 7280 which IMHO, is much better than Hiptop, but costs twice as much monthly and much more complex to set up at first. While the telnet client for Hiptop is free, the third party telnet client for Blackberry is expensive at $195 for the software alone (www.idokorro.com). I've got instant messaging on all 4 networks now: Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, MSN, in one single Trillian-style contact list on my Blackberry using www.webmessneger.com now. Battery life is excellent too - 4 continuous days of always-on instant messaging and email, with great reliability, since Blackberries was designed for mission critical business.

I've actually went into talks with a commercial provider about commercializing my Linux TTY server which I originally programmed for my personal use, but I think they decided to stick with their existing solution, or that there's been some financial problems caused by the drops in relay funding. (I'm still open to commercializing my Linux TTY server software...which I originally written just for my own personal use!) I've been way too busy with other things in my business to consider talks with other service providers in commercializing my solution. (I'm a self employed contract software engineer myself)

Incidentially, I tested MCI's Wireless IP-Relay on my Blackberry. Seems to work; but it seems quite a bit slower. I'll keep it on my Blackberry as a backup. It's always nice to have backups; and this does have the advantage of letting me directly connect to an MCI operator when I need one!

My Linux TTY software also has optional commanding (using IRC-style commands) for doing things such as macros, hangups, automatic "Please Call XXX-XXXX" transmission to relay operator. But doesn't require these commands. My Linux TTY server is capable of incoming calls, but generally, I prefer www.dictomail.com for incoming calls... since people don't need to call a relay service to reach me!!

Note: It appears that MCI Wireless IP-Relay appears to be a device-independent service. That means it will work on older RIM pagers, the new Blackberries, HipTop, PalmPilot, PocketPC, TREO, even some cellphones, whatever has a telnet client available...

he already paid monthly service for this
sidekick... he wanted me to find out
about how can a hearing person call him
on the sidekick converting from
voice to text messaging... You just
mentioned dictomail.com for
any hearing person to make
any voice calls leaving text messages...

However, my brother is VERY tight
with finances he is NOT too happy about
having to pay extra for this dictomail...
only because he already paid a lot of
money to the Sidekick monthly services anyway...

We discussed about this and we realize
that Sidekick SHOULD include any
incoming voice messages from any
hearing callers converted to text messages
WITHOUT any extra charges....

Agree ? If so, then how can we convince
the Sidekick about this without any
extra charges ?

IMPOSSIBLE

Simple use text message since almost every mobile are include text message servoice that can be connect to anywhere.
 
Impossible ? Ok, but I would like to
see a major improvement in this
technology world that Sidekick is
making so much money from deafies,
but the Sidekick SHOULD provide
new technology service to help these
deafies to receive any options using
voice-to-text and/or text-to-voice....

Thats what I want to see this happen
and this technology should be provided
by Sidekick only because some hearing
people do NOT want e-mail and
many hearing people prefer VOICE only
so there should be a new technology
within Sidekick to have a capability
to convert from voice-to-text AND
from text-to-voice either ways both
ways...

Thats why I refuse to purchase Sidekick
because they do NOT provide
voice-to-text and text-to-voice.....
 
I notice that sidekick has ip-relay now so I did not use it on my sidekick -- would use the ip-relay when I need it from my work or home -- I never think would use my SK and I did not use SK for internet either when I need it for some reason, I would -- I do enjoy my SK as via emails and reasonable when I was stuck somewhere from work or home. :)
 
as I do see hearies use the SK (my friends use it) they like to via emails and use the phone, too. I did not see why hearies "hate" the SK for phone ?? I have auto phone on my SK but I always check on my voice email if I missed the calls... I had call back when I need to... It seems simply to us (hearies and deafies) IMO

For people willing to pay an extra fee, this can be accomplished by third-party means nowadays. It doesn't matter what device you have and what provider you use.

Right now, I use a Blackberry Model 7280 (the color Blackberry) and it is pretty great. I use WebMessenger on it too (Trillian style software - AIM/ICQ/MSN/YHAOO).
