Windows 7

Nathan, did you put these 3 OS in your PS3, correct?

Do you have all of different OS in one computer? I can't wait to get full verson of Windows 7 for new notebook. :barf: Vista sucks.

It can be done on large hdd. I read in website that one kid have one pc with many OS installed by setting up many partitions, DOS6, Windows 3.11, Win 95, 98. ME, 200, 2003, XP, and many other OS in hdd.

I've had 3 OS in hdd in past, Win 2k, 2 of XP.

You can easily dual boot Linux and Windows no matter how many you partitioned and installed. I bet it'll be lot of work to install.

Secretblend, can you give me a close screenshot interface of the Windows 7? I would like to see what it looks like, is it similar to Vista or well, more 'futuristic'?

The feel of 7 to me is basically like vista, but slightly improved in certain spots.
It is a lot less clunkier to me, I feel.

But overall the GUI from vista hasn't changed much -- it's mostly the internals and how it handles what you intend to do.

I have it installed on my second PC, so I don't really have much other stuff installed on it except browse the web and general junk.

Here's a snap of my (windows 7's) current desktop, it's just the same as vista plus the widgets.

I will got new HP Pavilion notebook soon. its operation is Vista premium and 64-bit version. So I dislike Vista. I consider to download Windows 7 beta but Mircosoft said that Windows 7 Beta is no longer available for download. Or may download XP Pro. Windows 7 is good?

I haven't looked at Windows 7 yet. My new laptop I just got a few days ago came with Vista installed on it. I was kind of dreading it because I've heard so much negative feedback about Vista -- I don't think I have heard a single positive thing about Vista. However, in the 3-4 days I've been using Vista, I haven't minded it at all. Yes, the way you see things and open files and apps, etc. is slightly different from XP. But if you're computer literate you can adapt to the changes easily. Unless I find something later on Vista that I hate, I guess I would say Vista isn't bad at all and Windows 7 probably would be the same - just adapt.

First, congrat on your choice of new HP notebook.

You can find XP Professional OEM via newegg or other online store or get from torrent if you planning to not download any applications that made by MS except for included in installation CD, that's reason because I haven't test any recent applications, such as IE 8 on pirated XP yet and you could try it.

If you need drivers for XP then go to notebook review forum and go to HP section then post new thread, including model number and spec then they could help you to find drivers.

Some Vista drivers will work on XP.

I already reformat and install XP on my new notebook and work so fine.

I got drivers and information on XP installation from notebook review forum.

I have my work s windows XP Pro CD. Do you think that I could download it on new notebook? Are there risks to installing it? Some software that doesn’t install or work correctly, including anti-virus or security programs Printers, video cards, or other hardware that doesn’t work?

why not? it'll work just fine. just make sure you have all drivers first before you reformat. probably 99.9% software work on XP but probably half of it does not work in Vista and/or Windows 7.

Yup, it's legal copy and should work so fine.

For drivers, programs and anti-virus, it need be XP compatible to work.

I know some Vista drivers will work with XP, except for video card, wireless network and sound driver need to be XP compatible.

Except for wireless network? New Notebook includes Intel WiFi Link 5100AGN. I recommed Draft "N" network for my Dlink wireless "N" router.

I means WiFi card in notebook need be XP compatible to get work and router should work so fine.

You can find driver from Intel website for Intel WiFi card.

My notebook has Atheros WiFi card.

w7 32bit and 64bit versions are still available for download off torrenting. They're about 2-3gb each. Microsoft has disabled downloading w7 on their site, but you can still generate new CDKEYs off home.live.com.

The beta will continue to work until August 1, 2009. But I am 99.9% sure some hackers will bypass it. Its obvious that the beta will get cracked, someone will try and succeed.

A few places to download it is Demonoid, piratebay, isohunt.

w7 isn't so bad, compared to vista its feel is 1:1. Vista isn't really bad either as everyone else makes it to be, if you tame it and get used to it then you are perfectly fine. Plus, the 64bit version has a lot more to offer over XP due to being able to incorporate more than the 3.2gb memory "limit". Only problem is finding compatibility for 64bit.

Chevy, your HP Pavilion drivers are available off HP.com somewhere in support > drivers. You have to enter in your laptop's model number to get started, and that is all you need. Save those to usbdrive and you are good to go during XP reinstall.
