I will have watch the squirrels and see if any busier this fall burying food for the winter and if their tails get very bushy. I read if squirrels tails get very bushy it will be a cold winter , I am not sure if this an old wife tale or not.
The squirrels around here have been active. The other day I saw two running around and around and around.... one of the big oak trees across the street.
They're probably not gathering nuts around here, though there are several huge oak trees here, since they know I put out bird seed and suet.
I want another 6' deep blizzard !!! havent had one since 1983 I believe it was, snow was level from our porch all the way to the neighbors on the other side of the street, all you seen was a bump in the snow where all the parked cars were...lol the best igloo building year we ever had.... Now, I just get to kick back and stuff my wood stove and watch tthe kids play
No blizzards, please. That 2012 one was good enough, as we got dumped with 20.3 inches of snow that February.
thats nothing, try 60+ inches of snow, deep wet snow !
No thank you. I'd get stuck above my head, and pretty much would be immobilized. I'll pass. You can have that.
thats why you stock up and stay home.
Squirrels are already cutting the black walnuts and carrying them off here...might be a sign?
It could be if they're burying the nuts around your yard. I will see the squirrels bury apples from our trees but the apples tress are not being taken
of by the new manger of our condo and the trees are looking sad. I don't wasn't a lot of snow b/ci will have to dig my car out to move it and that getting to be too much for me.
after I had these 2 monster oaks removed the squirrels have moved on, they come here to get stuff but scurry off to another location now... But there are tons of squirrels around here, lots of trees. Beavers come up from the creek as well, geeze they are big.
The weather is little bit cold already. I have a feeling that this winter will be harsh for people who live up north in New York.
We are hitting near 100 all this week and part of next then a storm moves through. The evenings are dropping into the 70s so its not too bad at night.
I been in the 70's all week so far and I love it , I am saving money by not having to run my A/C all night.
