Will it get ugly here?

I've always said that if McCain wins, I'm moving to Canada. I'm quite serious about that. Call me crazy, but that's how much I fear a McCain Administration.

I'm tempted to but if we can survive 8 years of Bush (even in bad shape), then I don't think 4 years of McCain would faze me.

Two things that concern me about McCain are his health and war tactics. I have a feeling that under his Administration, the U.S. is never going to withdraw troops from Iraq not to mention the strong possibility we could face yet another war between ourselves and Iran. I just see too many bad things happening under a McCain Presidency.

Under McCain, there may not even be an United States of America by the time he's finished.

If we are to stabilize the mideast, the current gradual withdrawal plan makes sense. If Obama is thinking conceding defeat, it is not in our interest, otherwise we shouldn't be policing the world in the first place. As for Iran, creating instability against the mullahs seems to be working well, though war is on the table, not a serious option right now.

Why do people think that withdrawing troops means we are conceding defeat?

Since terrorism (beheadings, car bombings, suicide bombings, etc.) will always be a problem for the Middle East, I honestly don't see how the United States continuing to fight the war in Iraq will solve anything.

After all, terrorism is a normal, typical way of life in the Middle East. That's nothing new -- and something we'll never be able to change.

We shouldn't be policing the world, but that seems to be exactly what we are doing in Iraq. We came into their country uninvited and forced them to live under a democracy that they don't believe in.

As far as Iran is concerned, as long as they continue to develop nuclear weapons, the potential for war will always be there. War may not be a serious option right now, but that doesn't mean McCain won't find a reason for the United States to be engaged in battle -- just like Bush did for the war in Iraq.

That is biased info from the media. Iraqis are actually improving and taking over security operations at a slow rate. Anyway, back on topic...

Depending on how you look at it, that's debatable and something conservatives want you to believe.

Shel, forgive me for going off-topic. I didn't realize what thread I was responding to. My apologies.

Back on topic...

They've had 4 years to do this. I'm not buying it.

We already lost this war a long time ago. There's no sense in deluding ourselves into thinking that victory is at hand. Wasn't victory declared with that "Mission Accomplished" schtick a few years ago?

And moving to Canada will alieve your fears how?

You have to really ask yourself this question.. You want a rabble-rouser or a simpering minion as a President? People in the political field are conditioned to maneuver around the Q & A's with the reporters and to avoid personal embarrassment as much as they can.

Simpering minion for me, as played by Tony Shalhoub in Spy Kids.

I'm kinda bored with the politicial stuff. Just waiting for this to be over.. I already voted for Obama, and I am happy with that.
Had a short discussion over McCain/Obama last Sat with a few friends during the Gators-Bulldog game, and I could tell people were a bit weary of the topic. No energy left to be so adversial :)

The OCD detective in Monk? I'd take the rabble-rouser played by Viggo Mortensen. :naughty: He's just so easy to look at with my one good eye.. *swoons!*

:gpost:

I'm getting weary of it all now, too. I voted on Saturday and now I just want to see what happens tomorrow night. Too tired to fuss about anymore!
