Wii? Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!

The problem with HD-DVD and Blu-Ray is that they aren't selling enough right now. In fact, I read somewhere that it was only selling on an average of 120 to 140 units a day. Remember, that's in at least 2,000 stores and that's like a sale every 2 weeks for a store.

That's not really good news. I think people aren't ready for the new formats. Just like they weren't ready for LaserDisc. They'll have to come out with a better format than these. They are already having storage issues with the current new HD formats they have now.

Geez.

Well, we have one HDTV with HDMI input in living room then we would benefit to get HD-DVD player.

I just prefer to buy alot of DVD movies right now.

You're not getting the point. If HD-DVD don't sell enough within a couple years, they will stop making it. So therefore, it's not worth investing in if it's a failure.

You're talking to a person who has a lot of knowledge in the area of movies and the film industry. I know it's a fact that most formats and devices invented for home entertainment has flopped in the past. I have a feeling that HD-DVD and Blu-Ray isn't going to be a big hit and I don't believe we are going to make a giant leap like we did from VHS to DVD for a good while.

Not only to make things worse, there are now 2 major new formats which is the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray... it's definitely going to affect the competition on HD formats. It's not going to end pretty.

From what I see, there are two ways to make a giant leap... make a optical disc with a higher storage or digital video downloads. Actually, the digital video downloads already has began along with 125,000 copies sold in the first week at the iTunes store. That's an impressive start, and I predict it'll go on to sell millions by the end of this year.

We are still thinking about order HD-DVD player for $400 but in case with flopped then we will make deal with them, also my father owned 3DO and it went flopped but he kept for long as collect for rare game console.

HD-DVD can be great for games (2x HD-DVD is 30GB) and that's worth but MS changed their mind to let several games to make on HD-DVD because of support ROM.

You know alot about movies, that interesting. :)

Just wait a year and see how it fares. That's what I would suggest.

It's important to wait until enough amount of players are available on Wii, same concept as DS as you see how well succesful, they did the same thing.

In fact, DS (wait for year later) is higher than Xbox 360 (been jump after launch) thru network..

Xbox Live and DS online are different?

GTA to whack Wii?

Source: A lengthy article on MTV News.

What we heard: At its pre-Electronic Entertainment Expo press conference in May, Microsoft stunned attendees by announcing that Grand Theft Auto IV would be released on the Xbox 360 the same day and date it arrives on the PlayStation 3. Though Sony reps would later play it down, the development meant that the long exclusivity window that prior GTA games had on the PlayStation 2 would not survive the next-generation console transition.

But while Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas all appeared on the Xbox, no GTA game ever made it to the GameCube. In fact, the only GTA games to make it to a Nintendo platform were the handheld top-down titles Grand Theft Auto (Game Boy Color, 1999), Grand Theft Auto 2 (GBC, 2000), and Grand Theft Auto Advance (Game Boy Advance, 2004).

However, now comes word that the Wii might be carjacked by the GTA franchise. Speaking to MTV News at last week's Wii press conference in New York City, Nintendo of America president and COO Reggie Fils-Aime revealed that the Mario Factory is in talks with Take-Two Interactive, parent of GTA publisher Rockstar Games. "I'll be spending some time later today with the folks over at Take-Two to see what type of support they can give our console," he said. So far, Take-Two has only expressed interest in using Wii's motion-sensing functions for a baseball game.

Though he didn't mention any specific titles to MTV, the outspoken executive did say that Nintendo wants the Wii to have more adult-oriented content than the GameCube did. That console's catalog was dominated by family-friendly offerings, although it had several notable M-rated games, such as Killer7 and Resident Evil 4.

"The fact is there will be M-rated content on the Wii console," said Fils-Aime. "EA has already announced that they're bringing [the GTA-like crime game] The Godfather to our console. And we want every single best-selling game to be available on Wii. Whatever that content is."

The official story: Fils-Aime's comments have ignited a firestorm of speculation among prospective Wii buyers and GTA addicts. However, they are not official confirmation of plans for a Wii GTA--or any particular Take-Two title for the platform. Requests for comment sent to Nintendo, Take-Two, and Rockstar had not been returned as of press time.

Bogus or not bogus?: Not bogus that Take-Two and Nintendo are talking. As for GTA on the Wii? The once-unthinkable notion now appears to be a possibility.

you notice funny about rated? It suppose be M instead T since it's gonna be alot of blood in that game? Maybe it wouldn't display. heh

Well, I never really heard that Red Steel would be rated M for mature audiences so maybe we dont really see alot of pictures that shows lots of blood or something like from the movie "Kill Bill"? lmao if it's alot like that, that would still be awesome. :D

Still, Rated T still seems mature enough thou.

Wii preorders begin soon.

GameStop, EB Wii preorders detailed
In-store reservations for Nintendo's next-gen console begin tomorrow; Canadian PS3, Wii preorders begin Monday.

Gamers who blinked may have missed the preorder program for the PlayStation 3 from EB Games and GameStop. The retailers announced the details of the campaign on Monday, and put them into effect on Tuesday. Because of extremely limited supply--most stores were given only eight units for presale--the retailers quickly sold out of their PS3 allotment, the majority snatched up in just minutes.

Now it looks as though the retailers are taking a similar approach to preorders for the Wii. In an e-mail notice sent out to gamers today, the stores announced that preorders for the Wii will begin tomorrow.

Preorders will be given out on a first-come-first-served basis, and start promptly when the retailers' 3,600-plus stores open their doors for business. A $50 deposit--cash, credit, or trade-in--for the $250 system is required, and reservations are limited to one per household. Preorders for the PS3, which will retail in two models for $499 and $599, required a $100 to be put down. The companies did not reveal how many preorders would be available from each store. Details of online preorders are expected soon.

However, GameStop and EB can't absolutely guarantee a system at launch for those who do successfully get their hands on one of the prized receipts. A disclaimer on the stores' Web sites reads: "As we cannot control production and shipping issues by the manufacturer, a reservation deposit does not guarantee receipt of a system available to purchase at launch."

The two chains also revealed plans for Canadian preorders for both the Wii and PS3. North of the border, the campaign for both systems begins Monday, October 16, and requires a C$200 cash or credit deposit, or C$50 in trade.

Ouch...Canadians have to pay more filthy, green hard cash on the PS3 than americans do.

LOL... You know that currency in Canada are different from USA.

I got the e-newletter from GameStop and EB Games today. I bet launch day going be busy and quick like Nintendo DS and Tackle-Me Elmo few years ago. I got my Nintendo DS few days after launch day and it still work well as new.

As for PS3, it isnt going be pretty for Sony fans... Only 500,000 units available to Japan and United States. Sorry if I insult you, PS3 fans.

Oh yes... there are four video/audio cables available for Wii. One of them is formatted for Japanese televisions only. Also Wii get a LAN Adapter as well for users who dont own Wi-Fi wireless routers. I perhaps invest the Wii Component Cable for my flat-screen tv.
