I asked Sorenson that I would like change new phone number, so I do not want that person calling me again. They said cannot give me new phones and must have police to sign the paper if person bother calling me ??

You know not fair to me that If I want to change a new phone at Verison company, and they will do change number.

Yes I was told that too - they do have a good point - they cannot afford to keep up with people who just decide to change their phone numbers for silly reasons - they need a valid reason - with Verizon, they want you to continue being their customer so that is why they provide great customer services to you. Sorenson does not want to start dealing with people who wants to change their numbers all the times.

I could be wrong but I believe they refused change your number due to 911. If change the number, it'll screw up and 911 won't recognize your address or phone number right away than old number. I could be wrong but someone can give you correct info than I do. I am not a tech support!

For those who has vp 100 couldn't block anyone but for those has vp 200 they can block. I think that's the problem for those with vp 100 only.

Right! I was told that if we switch to new changes often, it could cause 911 Emergency Authority a major confusion. Unless you update your profile as current information. Keep updating your profile often. Many Deafies forgot to update their addresses. (Oops!)

Yes, they will not change phone numbers because phone numbers are running out faster in each zip code in each town. You may wait for few days to attempt again. I was told that there are OUT of phone numbers in some zip codes. They are putting customers on hold until they get new phone numbers for new customers. (That sucks!)

Yes, right... it's not fair. But it is not fair for them to change, they'd run out of phone numbers. What I can suggest you to update your Sorenson profile. Try again to request a new phone number. If Not, FORGET Sorenson. Switch to other VRS, such as HOVRS, CSDVRS, Viable VRS, and other VRS in your state or local VRS. Do your best to update your profiles and control your phone number. Check VRS services to see if they have "Block" or "Ignore" you can add them to list to block. Hope this helps.
Good Luck.

Um. VP-200 has that option where one could block unwanted calls? I checked mine and didn't find that option anywhere.

I know. It a bummer not being able to change the VP sorenson number at will. However , with the new 10 digit FCC rule and we need to pick the default VRS provider, soon we will have the same rules and regulation as the hearies does. However, due to my current knowledge - Sorenson may seem its been around forever to us but they are still relatively new company. As with new companies, they are still trying to figure out the standards in the deaf culture and what works for VRS and what they can do with the FCC. As with Sorenson tech support, if you dont like the answer heard from tech support, then you have the formal right to complain to VRScomments@sorenson.com . It doesnt matter if you havent heard from them for a resolution or not. Once you send the email to vrscomments, they have a electronic copy so they would have a copy to show to correct dept. at sorenson. If enough complaints is generated, and IF you also sent complaint to FCC as well, FCC may investigate too and will request to see the emails sent to sorenson and any actions taken. Remember - our power to change things for what we want on Sorenson VP is in the numbers of email sent. The more people who ACTUALLY take the time to send off en email for what they need/want the higher the chance of getting a REAL resolution. :cool2:

About change phone number, it is same idea change the AIM username over and over and over...

Again, the phone number isn't free to Sorenson while Sorenson gave us the free toll free/10 digital numbers.

I believe... I do believe that Sorenson have block feature, you can email to vrscomments@sorenson.com and the more we kept sending to vrscomments@sorenson.com. They get that kind volume due avoid to change new numbers.

Again, once we get all 10 digital number set and that will tap FCC as monitor like what regular phone does. I over heard that our name on videophone will locked and will force to use our full name. I support that because I don't like various odd name like _=-Happy Thanksgiving-=_, do we get that caller id from hearing people? No...

I don't know much about the technical issues but it seems to me the playing field isn't level because hearing people can change their phone number any time they want to for any reason, right?

Speaking of play same level as hearing and then we should pay the phone service on videophone for phone number purpose...

I believe to pay the service.

I don't have a problem with that, either.

I am hoping that they add 'block' button so won't get any call from one person that you wish not to talk with. We'll see. ....umm maybe I can send the comment to SVRS! :)

I don't mean to be rude or anything, ok?

The phone number issue seems so trivial to me because right now, I am not able to access HOVRS/Sorenson/LifeLink or any video relay service because FCC will not provide any Canadian relay service user service if we call from Canada to Canada.

Well, obviously the reasons are laws....wish Canada could set up their own and I'm wondering why they haven't thus far....Somebody set a fire under Henry Vlug!

i have agree with posts

i understand VRS have policy but cant include for emergency calls on VRS like for families.

SO i disconnect VRS because of my 2 ex-boyfriend send me thru by VRS and i dont like that!

Mrs bucket - i agree with you. however i understand why VRS wont since FCC simply WILL NOT pay them to handle calls canada to canada.FCC does not currently collect FCC fees from canadians. Therefore its not fair to USA fcc payees to pay for canadain services. FCC is USA regulation. VRS like Sorenson have tried to get various groups in Canada to sponser this and pay for the services. They all said no. Idiots!! VRS even tried a pilot program and it failed. Don't they realize that hearies can make a call to thier deaf loved one or deaf can make an emergency calls and Canada authiries can save a life ? IS this thier philosofy ? deaf lives are trivial ? Canadains have a right to a life too!! Canada just dont have a group like FCC to pay for this service. USA VRS's ALREADY have the services and hardware in place!! It just a matter of Canadain goverment to create some sort of a fund to pay for VRS calls within thier own country. VRS can handle the accounting headaches since they already have the equipment to do so. they just need to add that thats all. I dare anyone to poke holes in this idea other then collecting the funds. If anything, it will benefit everyone. More money for VRS, more available terps, sharing of communications of deaf and hearing regardless where you are in the northern continent, less waiting time for terp...etc..
Now all this is based on what i think i know and this is my opinion only.

radioman- you are correct. In Canada, I can call into USA with no problem. It falls into FCC regulations.

The relay operators do admit they appreciate my honesty when I ask first "allow Canada to Canada?" they say no but they tell me to continue to lobby for funding. It's not as if they abruptly disconnect without explanation.

I really appreciate the relay operators because I always sign "USHERS" then they will accommodate me right away with black shirt and/or someone skilled with Usher's.
