Roadrunner said:Wow...a lot of valuable and useful information here...a great thread you've started ^Angel^ and a timely one at that too! Lyme disease is not only IS dangerous, but also can be a traumatic experience for those who acquire it and survive it....
Seeing all the valuable information gathered here by several posters, it's WELL worth the time and effort to check ourselves, children and pets after venturing outdoors for a long period of time...I've never heard of adding garlic to pet food...would it work for 'us'? *choppin' up garlic and adding it to my dinner meal*....
Warmer weather is upon us, time to take extra caution whenever we hike in the woods, areas where deer is known to roam in, etc.,...using the proper types of bugs' spray and even wearing clothing that will deter such ticks from attaching themselves to our skin...we'll stand a better chance of being able to enjoy the outdoors while being protected and careful!

Defee said:I had a tick on my knee about 4 years ago but i thought it was a mole but then it started to itch and all so i got the magnifying glass and i went *gasp!*
i screamed at my hubby and scared the crapa outa him lol, he looked at it and then he sterilized it with alcohol and removed it with a pair of tweezers and cleaned the area with alcohol. He said watch it for a few days and see if it dont turn red, get swollen or itching worse then we go to the dr...well it cleared up just fine..whew! just lucky i guess..it could have been Lyme disease but not...now, before you all holler that he was not supposed to remove it..he is a trained EMT so he knew what he was doing.
this gets me puzzled.. i never knew that i wasn't supposed to take tick out of me.. whenever i see ticks on me i always take it off and burn the tick.. and nothing happen to me sinceLiebling:-))) said:You are very lucky to have your hubby around... :P It's right what your hubby did to you... Very lucky that tick's head is not in your body... Phew!!!
