Today as I was headed to get taxes done, passed by the hospital I was born at in 1968... They are demolishing it, WTF?
One of the best hospitals in the area, Ive had numberous surgeries there and bumps and bruises taken care of there all these years. It was redone a few years back and now its almost gone,,,, I need to find out whats going on, I think St. Louis University bought the land to develope?

Well if you were born there of course it would be a zoo!!! :laugh2:

We ain't no spring chickens no more they'll always be changing things they think are "outdated" to make us feel old.

If it makes you feel any better, the hospital I was born in back in 1989 has been gone for quite some time now and it was a decent hospital.

at ;east you can have bragging rights that you were born in the "zoo area" throw people minds for a loop.:giggle:

The hospital building I was born in is long gone. But . . . the built a new one in the late 1950's and have been constantly upgrading and adding on ever since.

I thought I remembered hearing about this for quite some time on St. Louis TV. You seem to be a bit behind it has been closed since May 2011. And from March 12, 2012 KSDK.com has this Saint Louis Zoo to buy Forest Park Hospital

Well, for starters I hate the city anyways, then... I dont watch the news at all anymore, I live where its peaceful now...lol

Last time Ive really been around the city was when I still worked for the City, I havent been there since 2009 ( other than to visit my parents which is on the outskirt of the city and close to the highway) so I dont see much on that short run. But once I got downtown yesterday to drop off some papers for my lawyer and go a few blocks to pick up my wife from work, I couldnt believe all the construction going on. Downtown, Hwy 55/70, Hwy 40, demo and construction everywhere...just wow.

Nope, doesnt make me feel better, its one less hospital now for a Zoo, you got what appears bigger and better?

The WWII-era Naval hospital where my daughter was born was torn down over 35 years ago.

Are you in St. Louis?

No, Southern Illinois 80 miles east if you measure from a certain point in town to the Galeria (sp) Shopping Center but we get our network TV out of St. Louis. (I think I have mentioned this before.)

Replaced with, yes, but as far as I know, it's not on the same site, so it could have been replaced by a parking lot.

Well, buildings don't last forever or remodeled if they could afford to.

My high school was no longer there in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the early 1970. They built a new high school on the college campus which my old high school was near by but almost close enough. That is okay but when I wanted to put my high school name like in Facebook (profile). I had trouble putting it there as they have the same name of high school in another location, different town and different state. My high school was not recognizable any more. :hmm:

Maybe the hospital was not able to afford the tech, the medical field is changing very fast and some hospitals are able not keep up with it at cost too much money . We had a hospital that was going to close up b/c they where in debt and the place was a dump.
I like the small city I live in but not anymore the mayor is hell bend on having a building on any open land left.

Oh I know all about that, Mayor Slay has wrecked hovac on the city. Its conflict of intrests but he gets away with it, making his family richer by hiring family businesses ( his family) Slays construction, and eating at his familys restraunts holding business meetings there (Slays Diner) and so on. Every white mayor we had froze the pay scale and no raises, cost of living increases,,,,ect,,,, But every black Mayor we had made good to his employees.... The city loves that Slay has built the city up, But his employees hate him for not taking care of us. I hate him with a passion, two faced con man.

Oh wow, the hospital that where I was born - Craven County Hospital are not recognized via online. :(

The one I was born still there and expanding.

Unfortunately my oldest son was born in a hospital just two months before they shut down. WTF? I wish my second son born there. Best birthing center there NYS ever seen, and its gone! :(
