Why does this happen?

:dunno2: I didn't think the answer could be that elusive.

Just make a choice. That the OP recognizes that he doesn't enjoy the drama is the beginning of the solution. Now if he can take the rest of the steps he could solve the problem.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I seem to have called at a bad time. I'll call back later. Bye." *click*

They call back? Use the Caller ID function, and don't answer.

Roommate answers? You tell them, "Sorry, you caught me at a bad time. I'll call you back at a better time." *click*

:)

To be fair, he doesn't enjoy deaf drama. I believe there are other instances that he's okay with.

Steinhauer, your question is pretty much what goes on all over http://deafvideo.tv , have you seen the site?
It's no different than hearing people though, people just want to have a soapbox. Some people like watching those, but you already acknowledge you don't like watching those shows.

Never seen that either with my friends. None of my Deaf friends ever shared an experience similiar to yours with me so it is new to me.

However, people sharing their squabbles over FB...yes, I have seen that and I think it is stupid.

If I want to converse with dysfunctional people, I have my family of origin for that.

No I haven't seen that site.

Same with me. I'm familiar with FB, but I'm quite surprise about that situation with VP and relationships...

update - oh it's Video Phone. Just wondering how do people get "VP audience" like Facebook comments when you can only do one-on-one with VP :dunno:

Kind of like with hearing people: sometimes you hear a fight over the phone between a husband and wife, then one of the callers ask the receiver who is in the wrong.
