Why Are Men Dominating the Debate About Birth Control for Women?

Yeah, like how Christians stand up to the sin of usury . . . oh wait.

How do you figure that? Because he allowed himself to be a victim of it? Or because there is a specific quote where he condones it?

I'll give you one of three but the other two you have to find yourself.

Recall the time the Jewish leaders brought to Jesus the woman caught in adultery?
His answer to them was yes she is worthy of death but.........(you know the rest)

He said no such thing.

King James Bible

John 8

Jesus went unto the Mount of Olives.

2And early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came unto Him; and He sat down and taught them.

3And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto Him a woman taken in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst,

4they said unto Him, "Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

5Now Moses in the law commanded us that such should be stoned but what sayest thou?"

6This they said testing Him, that they might have cause to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and with His finger wrote on the ground, as though He heard them not.

7So when they continued asking Him, He lifted Himself up and said unto them, "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her."

8And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground.

9And they who heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the eldest even unto the last, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing in the midst.

10When Jesus had lifted Himself up and saw none but the woman, He said unto her, "Woman, where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee?"

11She said, "No man, Lord." And Jesus said unto her, "Neither do I condemn thee; go, and sin no more."

Actually this supports what rolling said. IMO

You just backed me up, thank you.

When the scribes and Pharisees said: "Moses in the law commanded”
the law came from God through Moses.
Jesus knew this but He also knew He had the power to forgive
Nevertheless, He agreed that the leaders had a right to stone her because God commanded it.
Keep in mind that they were testing Him and it had been a long time practice to stone for adultery. The only answer for this issue is that stoning (what amounts to the death penalty) could be carried out.

Perfect example of how people interpret the bible in their own way. there is no word of god, it's just what man thinks is the word of god.

We disagree....since nobody is changing their mind why continue to beat a dead horse? Especially since this kind of topic is forbidden on AD

Very well, just please don't forget to tell Jiro that the Quran is not the word of God.

Oh, before I forget. Make sure any member knows the Book of Mormon is not the word of God also.

But, no one will care if it is allowed or not...

No religious text is ever the word of any god. To claim that they are is simply a tool for religious leaders to control and enslave the minds and hearts of men.

Yep, just look at what 3 white American evangelical preachers had done in Uganda. Their anti-homosexuality preaching was so convincing that Uganda made a new law making it a death penalty to be gay.

That's your opinion, and you're entitled to it. I'm sorry if that's been your experience.

The Word of God, as in the Holy Bible, is the Truth, and the Truth set me free. :) There are no religious leaders controlling or enslaving my mind or heart.

It's sin that controls and enslaves people.

Jesus is not always the pacifist.

John 2

13 And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem, 14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: 15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; 16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.

(Also, Matthew 2:12-13 and Mark 11:15-17.)

Luke 22

35 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. 36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. 37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end. 38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.

In the Book of Revelation, Jesus is the warrior king, waging bloody battle against the forces of evil.

The Bible does show that there are times that it's necessary to take up the sword against evil.

I don't know that Christians support excessive interest charges. We oppose the use of pay day loans, car title loans, and loan sharks. One of my Christian friends is a lawyer who helps poor clients who have been taken advantage of by credit companies and banks.

The Bible also says if you work on the day of Sabbath, you should be put to death.

The bible also says pillaging, thievery, rape and enslavery is not only ok, but recommended.

So I'm guessing you're for rape of women (of whom the bible had recommended should marry their rapists or be put to death) and enslavement of women and children who apparently are akin to livestock, thievery of others' possessions when you pillage their town and for killing of all those who worked on Sabbath?

Science and reason are, by their very definition, the truth, and they have set me free from a world of myth and superstition. Life is beautiful. My only sadness is in seeing a world chained to dogma and superficial emotions, which are often perpetuated by religion. But not always.

I hope one day you'll join us, and the world will live as one.

You do know that ALL forms of interest on money owed were outlawed for the first 500 years or so of the Christian empire, right? That is the true meaning of the word "usury." Excessive interest charged on money loaned, which is the now ambiguous definition of the word, was outlawed for much longer than that.

This outlawing of usury, as interpreted by early theologians to be Jesus' will (hey, the Bible does get some stuff right!), eventually became too inconvenient for the ruling class. But no matter. Don't let the "word of God" stop the bankers from controlling the world. . .

As to your "I don't know that Christians support" assertion. That's flippin' comical. I guess it's only the Jewish-controlled banks that charge outrageous interest rates, huh?

What did the bible say about rich men again? That it's much harder for them to get into heaven? And isn't charging interests on loans anti-Christian according to Deuteronomy? (which is why it was only Jews who were moneylenders during the Dark Ages and were villified for this of course).
