I keep hearing/reading that tagline all the time. I must admit that I had to Wiki "Watchmen" just to get the backstory. It (the graphic nove) appears to have a huge following. Any fans here that will be going to see it?

You can find the super-sized graphic novel of "Watchmen" for sale at many places like book stores, video stores, etc.

I saw one for $20 at Blockbuster Video.

Yes, I've seen it myself. However, I'm not much of a comic book reader..at least not anymore. I don't know if i really want to drop 20 bucks on it.

Lol, I wonder if the Cliff Note's version is available. :hmm:

Amazon has it for $10.99

The movie is a B- grade generally from what I've heard from critics who've read the graphic novel, ending is a C-. I was hoping that it wouldn't try to screw up the book too much which it did in a bizarre way. There are times where the movie is almost an exact copy of the novel for no reason, and times when they completely screw up the plot to make it more hollywood.

Not that I'm a "IT MUST BE AN EXACT ATOM FOR ATOM CARBON COPY OF THE BOOK OR IT IS WORTHLESS" follower but it's going too far when little wedges of plot are being inserted just to cater towards the movie-going audience.

The book however is excellent, and if you find a copy you should pick it up and read it.

Thanks for your input.

I have bought and read the graphic novel a couple months ago and it seems pretty good and very well written...even the artstyle itself is nice indeed.

Its not like any other superheroes comics that you read...they are more like regular people who actually called themselves customed adventurers instead of that main term superhero or crime fighter, etc...so it's set in the year 1985 where things are alittle different such as techology and all due to Dr. Manhattan's ideas...and stuff like that.

I like that one character who used to partner up with Nite Owl named Rorschach, wearing the white mask with shifting ink blots and such. he's pretty awesome. :)

I'd rather see a movie based on Kingdom Come. That is hands down the GREATEST graphic novel I have ever read... and I don't even read anything by DC comics. :-D

Then again it would be nearly impossible to pull off given the fact there are like 100 heroes/villains featured throughout the book.

But back on topic - No, I'm not climaxing over the idea of seeing Watchmen. I'll wait till a DVDrip is uploaded then download that.

Ah, so it is worth it?

I guess I'll buy myself one soon. :)

If you are into comicbooks with well written stories and interesting cast of characters and all...yeah I think it's pretty much worth it.

I'm not sure what kind of character Ozymandias is supposed to be in the comic novel but in the film trailer he looks like a pencil necked geek. :laugh2: He doesn't exactly inspire confidence, you know?

Watchmen film reviews aren't looking so good. Washington Post gave it a :noway:.

So far, it's receiving mixed reviews, at Rotten Tomatoes, it's around 64%, the last time I checked. That is considered fresh as long it stays above 60%.

He's supposed to be known as the world's smartest man. Possibly even smarter than Albert Einstein. lol

just bought a ticket to IMAX theater on Saturday 3PM.... $18 WTF!
