i am hoh.. i can hear some even without my hearing aid on my right ear.. but on my left ear i cant as it is profound .. i can talk and lipreading.. i know hoh have same meaning as deaf.. so therefore i am DEAf.. lol :)

i was told that i have an opera voice?? *ahem* whatever.. lol :)

Well, none of the above.

I'm not HOH in the sense of only hearing when loud. I'm like a daltonic: There are sounds (lows) which I hear perfectly, and there are sounds (deep) which I can only make out through vibration, regardless of hoy loud they are. I understand much better direct speech than broadcasts. In fact, many people don't even notice I don't ear as well as they do. My speech isn't that clear, though, it's kind of monotonous, and I must confess, reading my lips is a real nightmare.

I guess "hearing impaired" would nicely apply, if they hadn't already [ab]used the term as an euphemism for "deaf".

BTW, I'm also new and haven't introduced myself yet (blush).
 
Physically hard of hearing... but definately not hearing culturally.
