Who remembers Mr Rogers Neighborhood ?

I have not thought about that show is so long lol

Yes, I remember that and it was long time.

My mother remember about this shows that started air on NET in 1968, but reception of NET was poor in her area with poor picture quality.

There were no cable in 60s so you got ABC, NBC, CBS and NET.

I absolutely LOVED Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. He was so kind and wonderful. I didn't have a lot of positive males in my life as a kid (my dad was hot and cold and my older brother was Autistic and I became more of his big sister by time I was 8 or so, I didn't have any grandfathers, uncles, and only 1 boy cousin who was 18 years older than me who I've seen maybe 5 times my whole life). I truly needed a show like that. Kids today need Mr. Roger's more than ever, it seems.

I still get teary-eyed when he sings "It's You I Like" to Jeff. I also cry every time I watch him saying goodbye telling his now adult viewers how proud he is of all of us. I just can't.

His show didn't start until well after I was grown. If he started in '68, I was 26 by then. Besides that I wouldn't have seen it anyway as we did not have a TV while I was growing up.

Never understood why he had to change shoes?
found this on some FAQ--

Why does Mister Rogers change to a sweater and sneakers?

Mister Rogers' Neighborhood takes place in a "television house." Mister Rogers stops by there during his workday to "visit" with his viewers. Since he's coming from his office, he's dressed in more formal business clothes. Changing to more comfortable clothes, like a sweater and sneakers, helps to create a more relaxing atmosphere.

That beginning ritual also gives children a predictable opening with some time to settle in. It provides them with a transition, so they're ready to look and listen when he starts to show something or talk. Also, because zipping a sweater and tying shoes are skills that young children are just learning to do, Mister Rogers sometimes uses that opportunity to talk about those skills and how difficult they can be for young children. He's also deliberately careful about hanging up his clothes and putting his shoes away, letting children see that we are responsible for things that belong to us.

But in this list #3 states he wore sneakers to cut down on noise on the set (walking around I guess)

So I think it was all of them... he wanted to lessen the noise on the set as well as create a more relaxing atmosphere for the viewer (which would be kids under the age of 7 mostly).

Crazy he was a Navy Seal. He wore the sweaters to cover his tattoos. :D
