I'm gonna prove that 2 equals 1!

Let... A = B

A = B
AA = AB
AA + AA = AA + AB
2AA = AA + AB
2AA - 2AB = AA + AB - 2AB
2AA - 2AB = AA - AB
2(AA - AB) = AA - AB
2 = 1

but if A=B, then your quantities in the parentheses equal 0.

2 (0) = 0 - 0

0 = 0

not 2 = 1

this problem is easily solved by imagining the numbers 1 to 100 on a numberline

1...2...3...4..........97...98...99...100

there are 50 pairs of numbers, and each pair adds to 101.

(1+100) + (2+99) + (3+98).......+ (50+51)

50 x 101 = 5050.

Just wanna say about the whole math thread.....Im still laughing. I'm truely entertained and love the math jokes.
Chase- Im still laughing at the blond "x" equation....as well as every other one. and i can appreciate the debatability of mathematics as well. I liked math but at the same time I am happy to not have to take any more math classes if I so desire.
I can appreciate the keen intellect and problem solving capability of a mathematician. I sometimes wished i could be a Savat and memorize every number, constant, corollary, equation, answer that i ever heard or seen. now that would be awesome.
Jillio, I have to agree with you, being able to solve it because thats how they tell you to, even if you feel the rule or constant and always so constant. My closing 2 cents of mathematics is that is awesome.....even if you don't like it at times like myself, the critical thinking and problem solving abilities it has given me with other situations, puzzles, etc in life, is INVALUABLE

Yeah. And actually, math is still being figured out, new things are come up with every day just about. I think it is something that will always be in a refining process. And yes, there are some rules that are there simply to make everything else work.

And... I just found something that interests me.

2 - 2 = 1 - 1

If we remove -1 from both sides:

3 - 2 = 1

Also 1 - 1 = 99 - 99

Remove -99 from both sides:

100 - 1 = 99

However:
2 + 2 =/= 1 + 1 (of course)

and as you pointed out, the equation shows that 0=0, not that 2=1.

Oh yeah, you're right... I made a mistake.
I had thought there was something like an A = AA (which would mean it would be 1 or 0) in there... I just got confused with the point it was trying to make haha.
 
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! that killed me. I never heard of that before. :D
