Who do you know has a CI the longest? Anyone 10-20+ years?

interesting, I am getting the impression if we look at people with CI for a long time it can be observed that they are doing very well. Is there someone out there who has had a CI for 10+ years and had no benefit from it?

I know two people who have had CI for well over 10 years without benefit.

There is few I know had theirs 20+ years.

My childhood friend had hers 14 years (had it done at 19).

Few of my friends had theirs when they were 3 or thereabouts, they are now late teens to early twenties. All benefit it greatly although speaks well they still signs too.

I've had mine 10 years, quite a lot of my friends have had theirs 14+ years, we all benefit. A lot of my friends had their implants at 2-3, they are all over 23 now.

Really, what's up with that. 20 years is a long time to suddenly hop off the wagon and no benefits. Did they get implanted early or later on?

probably older technology.

even if they been implanted over 20 years, they probably have a new implant if that happened (no benefit) by now. but I don't anything about older technologies.

One had his implant at around 9, stopped in his teens. Other one was implanted when he was a toddler, stopped when he left his parents.
They still have the implant inside, but they just dont use it.

I know a few people who are using their implants these days and they say if it fails, they won't re-implant.

I also know the same for the opposite, it depends on people, really.
