White Ohio Woman Sues Over Sperm From Black Donor

DHB, read Reba's opinion (same as mine), "The woman didn't get what she paid for, so she should get a refund on her fee, and any legal fees involved in the process." So it's not a scam as you think.

Can you prove that sperm bank is the only source she got cum from? What if the same day, she had sex with a black guy where nobody knows, then went to sperm bank to get more sperm... and bam! blame on sperm bank.

Some con artist is very organized and figured a trick to fool everybody. I have seen cases like that before, so if it had happened, the chances are, it is plausible.

They documented that she was given sperm from the wrong donor. It was an error in reading the handwritten documents.

Exactly, the sperm bank was the one to find the error. Otherwise, she wouldn't have known until she gave birth. Huge mistake on their part and they need to pay up. Crazy that the sperm bank doesn't have a system to double or even triple check before implantation.

When I had knee surgery, they put a red sticker on my forehead with a "R" on it for the right leg. Stupid system, I took a marker and wrote on my left leg "NOT THIS LEG".

Not to mention that having a child with someone to sue a sperm bank is a preposterous idea that no one who cares about their own wellbeing (pregnancy can cause death) or even executing a good scam (do you ever any idea how much raising a child costs?) would ever attempt.

 WTF ! Someone could had thought the meant to cut off your right ear!

Cramblett said she and Zinkon love their 2-year-old daughter, Payton, very much and wouldn't change anything about her. But they are concerned about raising her in the predominantly white community where they live.

I think it's interesting that they're concerned about raising her in a white community, but they're not concerned about raising her in a gay household.....seems like a stupid objection on their part.

Laura

You got point.

Because still in today's world anyone of color is still going to be judge more than being gay. Being gay is not a big deal any more VS being ethnic. A gay white couple can walk in a store not be followed. A person of color can not. Just because a gay couple has a baby doesn't been their morals or values are below a straight couples. People can be cruel even to a child.

We are not talking about inanimate objects that have no feelings or personalities. We are talking about a baby.

It's the same concept. People have the right to be upset not getting what they paid for. People are trying to make it out to be she doesn't have the right to be upset or that she is pulling a scam which is BS. IUIs and IVFs are really expensive and are not 100% to work. So how can this be a scam if she is for sure going to conceive.

This is why I was wondering why too many kids out there waiting to be adopted but, just because of this and that, prefers sperm donor.

Too expensive for adoption? It is STILL expensive to get sperm, and going though birth and so on. I don't see difference, just pure discrimination down the road and no winners out there. Sad!

I am a straight woman and I have been trying to get pregnant for years. Every specialist has told me I'm perfectly healthy to conceive so it must be my partner so I don't think it's wrong at all to go to a sperm bank. Adoption is a great thing but a lot of women rather give birth as do I. Is not that adoption isn't an option but I rather go through the 9/10 months and feel every bit if pain to bring in new life.

Yeah, right, that's a freedom of choice.

I love that. That was a really smart thing to do. I have heard of too many screwups.

That's what I'm saying. I have no problem with adoption but I still want to bare my own child. I want a big family and I would have birthed children by me and I do want to adopt as well and so does my boyfriend. ( yes boyfriend not husband. I've been married before and I don't need a piece if paper to show I'm committed and monogamous to one person. But we will be getting married one day)

That's not always the case.

A person's sexuality might not be as visually obvious as a person's skin color but that doesn't mean they are more accepted by society.

Actually that exactly what that means. In corporate America they show it all the time. Being gay is something that can be hidden not skin color. Their are biracial twins out here that one can be born appearing mixed and the other blue eyes blonde hair and they even say they are treated differently and separately by society and not treat equally.

I thought they had already addressed that. Being gay and growing up gay they have the experience to deal with that. Having a biracial child is completely uncharted territory for them, and that is a big concern for them.

Yeah, those scientific papers that show having gay parents makes life so horrible for the kids that they are happier and healthier than kids of hetero parents. http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...pier-and-healthier-than-peers-research-shows/

Someone again said this couple made a poor choice in using a sperm donor instead of adoption. You're really ignoring the fact that it can be so hard and so expensive to adopt. Friends of mine who are gay tried to adopt. They couldn't afford private adoption, which costs 30-50k and even if you pay the mother can say "nope, changed my mind" and walk away, with your dough. They tried going through the state. For a baby there was a waiting list several years long. There were no young kids (under 6) at the time whose parental rights had been severed. They either had to wait again for a child to be cleared, or they could foster to adopt. They did not want to do that. Many friends of theirs had done fostering to adopt and they were all heartbroken when the children went back to their parents because the parents cleaned up their act. They did not want to fall in love with a child or children and have to give them back. So, they used a sperm donor which was about 49 thousand dollars cheaper than adoption. They used their insurance for the birth. Also, you can't slam them for wanting to adopt a younger child instead of a teenager.

I have always believed that kids should be asked if they want to be born before conception. The parents in this case are getting a counseling nest egg in place for their child for when the times comes that she realizes the hand she has been dealt. They see It that way so there is a big chance it will trickle down on Payton. I have mixed feelings about that for her sake. From her point of view if she learns about the lawsuit later on she would be likely to think she wasn't wanted no matter how her parents try and spin it. When looking at it that way does the money matter that much?
