Let's say you've had a bank account for a while now, and you've never gotten a credit card offer in the mail, because you'd told the bank you weren't interested. That is, until one day, a credit card offer DOES show up in the mail. This makes you mad and/or upset, cause you'd told the bank no credit cards.

Now my question is, do you prefer debit or credit cards? It's pretty obvious which one I prefer, and I have no interest in paying the high credit card interest rates, period.

Credit card is fine as long as you pay the bill in full.

I use credit instead of Debit EVEN if the credit is really debit. I do not want advertise my PIN to the public. With Credit, it is impossible for anyone to figure out the PIN of your debit card.

Second reason, some banks charge customers fees if they use debit instead of credit, many not realize that credit can be used instead to avoid these fees being charged.

Many not realize that credit can be debit even though its from bank. I never saw a debit that can not work as "credit" at the swipe station. The only time I see credit card fails is when they were trying to use it as debit instead. This is years old secret that many not realize, and most retailer don't want let you know for one good reason.... nothing personal but its business, they prefer you use debit to avoid transaction charges that they have to pay if you use credit instead of debit.

So if you got a visa or mastercard from your checking/savings account, it really makes almost no difference between Credit and debit (Remember the only difference is who pays for the fees). ;)

That's a good point, but still-- those high interest rates. And FYI-- I rarely use my debit card outside my home-- it's mainly for paying bills on-line, and not much else.

He's talking about a bank credit/debit card. It all comes from the same place, when you use your ATM card you can use it as a debit card or a credit card. It's not actually a credit card per se though, it still comes out of your bank account, you don't pay interest and you won't get a bill.

you both are having miscommunication problems.

That's entirely possible. However, my perspective of credit cards is different than most people-- I flat-out refuse to trust them, because they're a corporation that makes millions each time a person uses a credit card, and if one isn't careful, that person might find themselves in a deep hole. That's why I won't do it.

Omg dude, it's not entirely possible, it's what it is. What DHB is talking about, a debit/credit card is not the same as a credit card. When you use a bank card you have the option of completing the transaction as credit or debut, you can sign a receipt or enter your PIN number, but either way it cones out of your bank account. Why am I explaining this? How can you not know?

What you are talking about and DHB are talking about are 2 different things.

No I don't think credit cards are evil. No if I used one to put $50 in my gas tank the credit card company won't make a million dollars. In fact if I pay them $50 before the next bill cycle they won't even make any interest on it. But if used irresponsibly yes it can get you in trouble. A person that isn't responsible enough to have one shouldn't.

Who says it includes interest rates? See, you are the one of many that got confused. A credit on your debit card is automatically linked to your bank account and whenever you charge as credit, they just simply deduct from your checking account, how could they charge you interest when you don't owe them a penny?

I think he's posted on here he has Chase Bank, so he may have gotten an actual Chase Credit card offer, not a bank card offer. Do people still have bank accounts without getting a bank card anymore?

I have a Wells Fargo debit/credit card AND a Wells Fargo credit card, know what I mean.

Actually it was a Capital credit card. They're not associated with Chase whatsoever. And as for the info you're telling me, well, let's just say I'm learning something new.

Oh okay, that is straight ass credit card unless you got 360 on it. Try use debit on that card to see if it works. If not, you know it is 100% credit card, not credit/debit card.

Let me check.

Update: It's a Capital One Platinum Mastercard. #$@! checked my credit, and offered me this?! Forget it.

Then why are you blaming your bank for getting it? They don't have anything to do with it. Well learnings good :)
