I voted cremated because I have already made the will for me to cremated and my husband did not make a will yet. He said that he want my ashes with his ashes together if one of us died first. The reason for being cremated is that I want my body to be free from this world and not go under the ground. Beside, it is a tradition in my Cree history which is better for our Mother Earth to just clean our bodies from being waste. One thing I hope that the Catholic Church does not oppose to having my body cremated because the Church frown on cremated. They would rather have us buried underground. But the will make it official for me to be cremated. So I am happy whether the Catholic Church like or not. :D

I voted cremated even though I am not completely sure what I want yet (I am hoping I have lots & lots of time to think about it :P). I always said that the reason why I want to be cremated is so that then they can make sure that I am dead rather than wake up in a small box full of bugs. But then like Kaelei said, I am worried about getting burned and catching fire if I am still alive.

I've voted on being cremated.

What good will it do the body if it were to rot 6 feet under for eternity? It will decompose and just be there in the ground. It wouldn't be up to any use. Once you die, your soul leaves the body.

So, with that, cremation is cheaper and space-saving for the land.

plus... i feel that my soul cannot leave from coffin and it will be stuck in that coffin/ground for eternity :Ohno:

cremation. my reason - see my reply to Jolie's post and plus it's a traditional way in Asia and it's part of my religion too

one thing - I was actually pretty surprised by ADers' responses in here. I never thought I'd see a lot of whites in here (you know what I mean) preferring cremation because it's viewed as burning in hell (i think) and coffin is a Christian/Catholic way to get buried.

wondering if my post in the past scared people into getting cremated :hmm:

I wanna be freeze dried. Or you can just throw me in the dumpster—I don't care.

Got mixed feeling about this. On the one hand, I don't mind being buried if my body will nourish the earth. On the other hand, I do like the idea of a Pagan service.

Either way, I don't want to be marked. If I shall ever be planted in the ground, make my grave unmarked!

:laugh2: I like that response.

Though for me, I don't really care one way or another if I'm cremated or buried. I don't need a fancy box either. No reason or need to be a financial burden on the living.

I am also surprised, by how many people wants to be cremated.

To me it is cheaper on the family and less stressful for them seeing my body in a coffin. I prefer to have photos of good memories place around and a small memorial service at a family members house. I do not want to have it at a funeral home. Have a BBQ and cook out. In my memory.

I want to be Burried with a Military Funeral with Bagpipes being played.

If I'm not completely mutilated, go ahead and bury me with my beloved stuffed monkey, if I'm bungled up beyond comprehension, cremate me, place my ashes in an urn and put it in a box with my monkey and put me in the ground.

Right, but now they also make gems of the ashes. Like making cubic zirconia and then the can be set in a ring or necklace.

I really like that idea. Can they do that with remains of loved ones that has died almost 20 years ago too, or what? Or only recently deceased ones?

I wouldn't want to lose the ashes of my loved ones. I tend to lose things a lot more often than most people do.

Well, depending on how much ashes there is, wouldn't it be possible to make several jewelry pieces so if you lose one you still have more? You can always put it in the bank deposit boxes (is that what they are called?).

Why unmarked? I am curious.

I've instructed hubby to spread my ashes in the Rocky Mountains.
