I'm about half an hour's drive away from the Ontario border. Gas is much cheaper in Ontario so if I were driving to Ottawa, I don't bother to fill up my tank in Quebec, I wait till I'm in Ontario. Then when I come back home, just before reaching the Quebec border, I fill up my tank to the maximum.

If I drive to New Jersey, it is about 20¢ less a gallon, and they pump it!

That's pretty basic really. Many feel Obama has been inactive in confronting gas prices for this very reason.

I don't think any presidents would cause this price increase. The other day, I was talking with my co worker and we all realize that gas price is pretty much in line with today cost of living.

Mind you, in 1975, gas price was 35-40 cents a gallon right? Well back then fancy cars one can buy for $5k during that time. Today fancy cars are costing 10 times more than in 1975, and mathematically speaking gas price now exact 10 times more now than it was 1975. Cost of living now is about ten times more than it was in 1975. It is making more sense now. Blaming on president? I am laffin.

Whats even better is that even though cars are now 10 times costlier than back then but uses much less fuel.

Cancelling the Keystone Pipeline won't help him once gas prices go up.

That is nuts! You should get a diesel vehicle and run it on veggie oil. Time to be a hippie! :lol:

Diesel gas cost $4.13 per gallon around here. with veggie oil, need 40 gallon of it to put in our truck.
 
Hmm....my distance to work is 17 miles in virtually no traffic. I think the average distance to work is like on the order of 13 miles one way for Washington state.

What are ya'll average distance to work? If you deal with heavy traffic and drive long distances it can take a toll on your wallet.
 
Here regular gas $3.79, preimum gas is now $3.99 per gallon. I believe this year sometime we will reach 5 bucks per gallon.

Only 3 miles to work... I fill my car up twice a month unless I go to appts then need fill up more. I am lucky in that part but not lucky for others who stuck with heavy traffic and long drive. I feel bad for others.

I could get 40 gallons of used veggie oil in about an hour.
 
I can :) Friend of mine did that and it work so well!

Yesterday I filled half way and it was $4.22/gal for Diesel I didn't fill up all the way knowing that I can get cheaper when Im on way to work.

Hubby's work van and our Jeeps can't be converted to diesel.

You mean my 1968 VW bug convertible wasn't enough? :giggle:

Does 40 gal. of vegetable oil go the same distance as 40 gal. of gasoline?

If so, that would last TCS about a day and a half. I don't think it would be convenient.

40 Gallons of veggie oil would get you about the equivalent of 50 gallons of diesel fuel or thereabouts. Depends on the method you use to convert it to fuel. (Some people mix it with a thinning agent. Others use a heating system to thin. Both methods will increase the total amount of fuel) Diesel can get you anywhere from 35-55mpg. Depends on the vehicle.

I've not done it personally, but I know people who have. It's time consuming and can be messy, but once you get an efficient system down for filtering the used oil that you get from restaurants, it's probably worth it? :dunno: I don't have a car anymore, and I don't need it. Life in the big city. Ohhh yeah!
