Whats the fastest way to become fluent in ASL??

As I've said in another thread, it seems I am no longer talking in my sleep, but signing in my sleep. My daughter will wake me up to tell me to "shut up!!". I don't even know that much ASL when I'm awake, but my subconcious mind has picked up a lot. :laugh2:

 PFH is nutty. I highly doubt that drinking massive quantities of alcohol will help improve one's signing. Certainly doesn't improve spoken english..

One or two will help you loosen the nerves up and sign fine with people.

Same with excessive drinking -- you get laid easier. Just the concept. :P

Actually, when I when to a bar with my ASL professor to meet her friends and the rounds made it round. After a couple of beers I was comfortable enough not to over worry about my level of signing. At the time I was in an ASL lvl1 course. by the time the evening was over my professor was contemplating bumping me to the 2nd lvl.

Get outta here..:hmm:

I have been 'teaching' myself ASL since I saw Linda on Sesame Street as a little child, I am now 36. So I know a fair amount of ASL. I just need to put it into working practice. The college wouldn't allow my professor to bump me up anyway.
I would not recommend that anyone should try and add alcohol into learning ASL. But PFH ( if I may can you that Postsfromhell ;P) was right, I needed to relax and the alcohol allowed that to happen.

I sign to myself all the time..lol, I actually sign more fluently alone than when I'm in the presense of a deaf person.

I chalk it up to nerves. :mad2:

I talk to myself all the time, not in AUSLAN but in ASL. A lot of excellent practice! :laugh2:

Everyone calls me PFH. I give them the leeway.

Alcohol or Muscle Relaxants does the trick.. Only that Muscle Relaxants are less likely to be detected. (But they knock my ass into bed easily though):D

Hmm, speaking of Total Immersion, has anyone seen this link yet?

ASL - American Sign Language

Although the Total Immersion event in the link is over, there are others through the year. Just watch for such events, etc.
