What would you do in this kind of situation?

Well, when we want to talk about a problem or someone, it is probably advisable not to mention the person's name in public. This is AllDeaf Forum which is open to all public. It is not private. Anyone can read this if not register here on AllDeaf. If you have a private forum, then maybe the person who want to talk about a problem of someone he or she don't trust, then they can mention his or her name in private. I guess ChicagoBlue2 could not come up with a word to describe the person. To me, he is a scammer or troublemaker or something that can put a word in, maybe not. :dunno:

Don't know about scammer, but he certainly is a troublemaker, though, that much I can verify.

Any "friend" that pushes me to get involved in a monetary agreement is a big red flag.

Been there, done that.....when it comes to friends, I will never lend them money or borrow money. Great way to end the friendship.

Back in the '90's, I had one friend that became a douchebag salesman and tried to sell deaf folks (all the friends he had) those $1500 vacuum cleaners, and after I realized what he was up to, we never talked again since. It was a pyramid scam.

Just sayin'.

I know exactly what you're talking about..... I have another friend who doesn't understand the concept of fairness, and tried to charge me more than $100 for items he'd already put into writing that we agreed I would pay him for, and he STILL doesn't understand it.

Just a regular friend-- not one I would trust with my deepest secrets. He and I get along okay, but I still have misforgivings about certain things he's tried to do.
Seems more like an acquaintance, to me.
