What Would You Do, If You Instantly Became Famous?

I would either love the fame or absolutely hate it. I'm not a huge fan of being the center of attention, but, like others, I may want to bask in it and take the chance to travel. My glory would likely be temporary. I would want to hide after the first month; I like being alone.

I would travel to all the places I want to go and separate an account with lots of $ for my remaining studies and the studies of my future children =] after I get enough of that I would figure out a way to become UN-famous lol and keep my life private.

Are some posters confusing famous with rich? They aren't necessarily the same thing.

Mother Teresa was famous, but I would hardly call her rich.

Really? I am guessing she might have been the richest person ever

Agreed. All the unwanted intrusion on your life that comes with fame just doesn't appeal to me at all. I like to choose who and when people are involved with me.

That's when you hire damn good managers, lawyers, and body guards. You also don't discuss certain topics in public to make sure certain areas of your private life are not revealed. IE - if you're a closeted homosexual - don't discuss marriage and/or intimate relationships with the media. You come out to your fans when you are ready to on your own terms. Look at how Jodie Foster and Ellen DeGenres handled it. Also Darren Hayes had actually come out to a few people in his close circle BEFORE the release of the 'Affirmation' album. He was getting his divorce finalized while recording 'Affirmation'. He was constantly asked about his sexuality but managed to dodge it with comments such as 'Whether I'm gay, straight, dating Kylie Minogue, or even into monkeys, I'm happy for whatever you project over onto me." He never said he wasn't gay, but he also never said he was gay. He always kept the media quietly speculating. In June 2007 - he officially came out of the closet when he announced on his site that he had married his long-time partner Richard Cullen the previous week and was releasing a new album in August 2007. His new album was the buzz of the UK far as I know reaching #1 on British charts, however it was barely noticed here in the States. He's now scored a record deal with Universal Music Australia and is releasing a new album soon. (Hopefully it will see the light of day here in the United States).

Rambling aside - if you can 'control' the media with the right comments and public behavior, you're good to go. However a celebrity's life is mostly meetings, meetings, meetings and parties where they must entertain someone or pay someone a ridiculous amount to be entertained. There are also appearances, ceremonies, etc. to contend with.

Mother Teresa was given boocoos of money which she gave it all away to the poor children of Calcutta India. I doubt we will ever see another Mother Teresa in our lifetimes.

There are many self-sacrificing people who do many thankless good works for others under harsh circumstances out there. We just don't hear about them.

Right. They are our heroes. My dad is one. He will deserve every decibel of the 21-gun salute at his funeral. :(

I am thinking "Maybe I can be a five minute famous" like for example if I had won a lottery load of money (million dollars). Before you know it, it would be all over. :dunno:

I don't think I would want to become famous. I don't know what famous would be like in real life. I have never been famous for something if I have talent. :hmm:
