My friends have gone to Turkey earlier this summer.. they really liked it. Friendly locals, cheap food and cost of living. They have cool ruins, too.. enjoy tanning on the other side of the world will ya?

sweet! Be mindful of their Islamic custom. I have heard some places in Muslim countries have "Bikini Patrol." They tell female tourists to cover themselves up. :laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:

Cool! knowing that Turkey is a Secular nation with secular government. It should not be a problem vacationing there unless State Dept. has warning...

You can find out more on that on State Dept. website

It would be good idea to read it and it may help you prepare...

I'm taking a trip oversea in Oct, What I want to know what should I expect or need to do when traveling alone? This is my first vacation out of the United States beside Canada so I'm kinda nervous about the whole trip. :giggle: Any feedbacks or tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. ;)

Don't you mind can I ask you a question? Why you are going to Turkey for? Are you going be alone for trip?

You better borrow a Turkish in English Dictionary book from Library before you leave USA. You must bring Turkish phrase book with you. And you need to bring a Turkey map with you too.

No, Turkey can't do anything with Iraq War. Don't worry about it. American Military Base will take care of Turkey country.

I hope you will be safe trip to Turkey. Remember God will be with you go trip. Have a fun! :)

P.S. Don't forget to bring your digital camera with you. It's very important to take a picture for memories and make a scrapbook. :)

The more I think about you going alone, the more concerned I get. Yeah, dye your hair!

You act like you work for the FBI or CIA, What's with all those questions?

SCBassist-- I've read that you could get a visa when you arrive to Turkey for like twenty dollars.

CHERI!!!,
Why you want go turkey....? For your pleasure vacation or... Blind date guy out there?

I'm kinda surprise. What make you want go there? Explain me care please?:ty:

Try turkish tea especially apple tea and turkish delight candies... Their taste is really super... mmmmhhhh...

I have been visited Side, Turkey for 2 weeks holiday with my family. Really beautiful and clothes (sport clothes) and gold and silver jewellery are terrible cheap there.

 You guys just won't give up huh? The only real vacation I ever had was about twenty something years ago, that was when I went to Virginia Beach, VA. I want my next vacation to be an adventure and going on a vacation overseas is certainly exciting. I've always wanted to experience a foreign country. I won't be alone when I arrive in Izmir, Turkey-- a person I know so well for over the period of four years will meet me to give me a tour around Turkey. ;)

What city of Turkey have you visited? I've heard about the apple tea. I can't wait to have one of those. :hyper:

Most of the suggestions here are good enough.

Cheri, do you have plans to keep in touch with your family/friends in the States? If so, it would probably be a good idea to get pre-paid (pay-as-you-go) mobile phone overseas. You could still use your T-Mobile Sidekick in Turkey (they should work there OK) but it will be very, very expensive to roam overseas.

Of course, I do have a sidekick ID and I'm also aware of the expensive cost. :Ohno:

Cheri, I never been out of the US myself so I don't know what to tell you. Have fun be safe and behave
