...about hearing folks? Remember name just ONE. I know that there are several: Just post ONE characteristic.

Disrespect. I may tell someone that I want $75 for my bike. The price is not negotiable. I would say $75 or no sale. Yet, they want to make offer any way.

That's not "unique" to hearing people, everyone probably does that regularly. If I had to pick the one thing I hate is people labeling me - both the deaf and hearing community are equally guilty of always having to stick a label on a person for their own self satisification...whatever it is....

They'd still do that whether or not your'e deaf. :

Looking at me like I am a curiosity.

There is a human being just like you , contained in this vessel.

The one thing that hearing people tick me off that they think I can understand what they say and believe that I can get along in the hearing world without the accommodations. That is what make me mad. I am not hard of hearing or have mild hearing loss. I am deaf, period. They don't get it.

Years ago I created a thread just like this one and got many, and I mean many, replies.

This time around I am only asking what ONE thing bothers you most about how hearies treat you. That's the only difference. Also, this thread might be helpful for all hearies on this board...I would suspect.

I personally treat EVERYONE, deaf or not, with the highest respect for that's the way I was brought up and that's the way, if I ever become a father, I will teach my children to be towards others.

Bad perceptions, it's interesting to notice how many people believe the first thing off the top of their heads. Gut instincts aren't reliable indications of a person's character.

"Oh, I'm so sorry" response after they find out that I'm Deaf. Grrr. Being Deaf is not a sin, nor a curse but a blessing.

Wirelessly posted

One thing that that ticks me off may not be deaf related but it can maybe. When people from Mexico criticize my Spanish how I sound too America blah blah when my pronunciation has the accent on the words. That ticks me off! Hey, at least I speak the language right?

When it comes to the deaf, as an interpreter , teachers or people will ask me, " He/ she can hear a litttle bit right ? Does he/ she lip read? Annoying questions from hearing people.

To go along with ^^^^^ above. The word is Ignorance.

Is that better, AquaBlue? :hmm:

Did you read the OP's thread (AquaBlue) saying that if there is one thing that tick (which mean make you angry or upset) you? He mentioned one thing or one characteristic that make you angry. I don't really understand what he is trying to say about one thing. **shaking my head**

Had you seen this current thread which is also similar? http://www.alldeaf.com/our-world-our-culture/91837-annoying-ignorant-hearing-people-stories-41.html

Being condescending while talking to me. (Talking to me as if I were mentally disabled)
