If I were you, I would try asking my local animal shelters if they had any. Sometimes people are not as willing to adopt an animal that is blind or deaf or whatever.

I had a cat that lost her hearing to old age. The funny thing was, once she did, she actually started letting us massage her with the vacuum cleaner! Another thing that was funny--when she was younger, we'd taught her to roll over on command by saying, "Boom!" and doing a kind of shooting-a-gun sign. So of course when she went deaf, she still knew when to roll over!!! :)

Personally, I'd have no problem adopting a deaf cat. I've had one before and it's no big deal.

I can't guarantee it would work. And in all likelihood, this means you would get a mixed-breed cat, so if you're set on having a particular breed, you may have a priority decision to make. But some shelters have websites where you can look at the animals and read a little about them before you even go to the shelter. :)

Some shelters may use this website: http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi?action=5

If you go on this site, and you find a shelter that does and you can look at their animals, you'll see a green heart near the name of any pet that is "special needs," as they call it. "Special needs" can range from anything from physical things to an animal that (for instance) has been abused and therefore needs particularly dedicated owners.

Oh really?! Aww thats cute ! :giggle:

Yeah, it was--almost as if she were "playing dead"! ;)

Aww thats great. I would love to adopting a deaf cat!

I imagine it would be a nice experience. Mine seemed to enjoy herself. :)

Looks like they're all dressed up in formal wear all the time. . :)
