What is your average temp in your house/apt?

I know, and I have not been using VP much lately. Smartphone will do especially with Verizon.

I'm just tired of political craps within city and surrounding. I just wanted freedom to do whatever I want to without having neighbor telling me how to run my property.

At least I am glad my current neighbors is awesome. I had bad experience with former neighbor that is about 80 years old and had no life always peeping tom at me and actually files alot complaints against me and my roommates. Cops takes her complaint as frivolous anyway. Mainly, she hates bikers RME!

If you consider high speed internet as important, so I won't recommended you to live in rural or isolated forest due to lack of high speed internet. The satellite internet is still no good with strict cap on bandwidth.

The DSL in my area sucks because of slower speed and blurry quality on VP.

86 is the temp I truly love.
i know I know, I probably have some disorder. drs doesn't care what,
as I tried to find out why I am always cold. it's not thyroid.
I suspect autoimmune disorder. I do have slightly elevated anti-tpo.

anything lover and I am like butterfly - start folding my wings and go to sleep.

so far I have wood stove and free wood...

Fuzzy

Depends on my wood stove mood, usually 76-78 degrees but can be as high as 85 degrees, or as lowest as 68 which automatically kicks in gas furnace.

Gas bill for my heating? Everybody can afford, and is best price anyone can have.

How much I pay for firewood? A: nada, zip, zero, nano, whatever... oh, it is free really. All I need to get these firewood is chain saw, ax, and my baby truck.

We don't have a heater at our house. Well.. we do use oil-fired electric heaters for the really cold nights. We primarily heat our house using the fireplace. ANYWAY... my dad always told me that cutting your own wood warms you FOUR times.

Once to cut it down and load it from the site.
Once to unload it and pile it at home.
Once to split the wood.
And finally... the fire.

Four times it warms you! That's good savings anyway you look at it.

Yup, the facetime's quality is great with Verizon's LTE.

Satellite internet will going improving really slow and it may take years for great, compare to cable internet, so what you think about those?

I have a lot of issues with HOA, so I had been confronted by some angry neighbors over parking on curb, renovation, walking and driveway. When flooring guys came with big pickup in my driveway and one neighbor came to ask me about what I'm doing in the house. I told woman that I just had a new carpet installed but she told me that I broke the HOA policies. She told me that I must get permission from the HOA's president for renovation inside of house. I was like what? and asked her to leave my property, or the police will be called, so she decided to left. I can't believe about invasion of my privacy. The next neighbor, just next to our house is really, really horrible after my aunt's pit bull bites the little boy in October 2011 and our insurance paid a lot of money to them, but they still considering to suing us, but I wasn't here because of lived in DC. Our insurance decided to drop the coverage and take care with victim's family, so we will be not in complete liable anymore. We found a new insurance and the premium has went up by almost triple.

I agree with you about some cities can be very bad for sure, also some counties could cause problem too.

Fireplace is the least efficient method of heating, with wood stove, it gives out about 4 times the heat than fireplace have to offer for same amount of firewood.

But yea, depends on how cold your location is. If it is in the south or warmer climate then fireplace should be ok but not up here where we expect mercury hit zero degree at times. We are expect mercury going to hit 8 degree later this week. Brrr...

Damn, I just overdo the wood stove, my house already very toasty warm... bit too warm... 81 degrees...

HOA? Fawk that! I will never buy HOA based properties. I wanted the freedom without dealing with whinny neighbors.

I agree it's the least efficient. Luckily... I'm down south here in Texas.

Yup, in here, it is very hard to find a nice houses that not policed under HOA, unless you find a nice house in rural area (no HOA) or old communities (inner city/suburb) are not policed under HOA.

I love the neighborhood that where my parent live in and there are no issues, however some neighbors are crazy, silly but not really big deal.

I prefer to have wood stove too, so they are cheaper than heating with natural gas.

81 degrees are dang too hot for me and I will be horribly sweat.

I keep it on 64 unless the kids are here and it's cold. It's been so warm/sunny out that it's over 70 in the living room most of the day. Summer, I set AC to 72 when I'm home. I have a whole house fan that is great, too.

I live in Tampa, FL so I even use the a/c throughout the winter. Depending on how active I am, 63 when I'm hot, 68 the rest of the time.

So what you are saying is you keep it on all the time. :D

Well, I am in South Florida as well. I have the A/C set to 78 and we have the ceiling fans running. If I do happen to need to turn on the heat, it gets set to 65-68. Did the same temps on thermostat when we lived in Missouri.

True, true!!

81 too hot? not to me :eek3:

Fuzzy

68 degrees at all times.

Brrrrrrrrrr
I am in Southern Illinois where temps can vary greatly. Am trying to use 72 this winter but may well give up and push it to at least 74. I have a problem with cold hands even when I wrap up otherwise. Can't very well type or similar tasks in gloves. House if built on a slab with heat coming from the ceiling which also makes for cold under a desk.

Honestly, I kinda wish it was colder down here. I like the cold climate and all. I don't know what temperature as we have knobby window units. All of them are always running full blast. We have one with a digi-read out and that one's on LO just after 65.

And yes I know they're highly inefficient too.

Oh I forgot to add that after 11 PM, the temp will drop to 67. Since the blankets will always keep us warm so why need to keep the temp above 70 you know? Secondly, if you need to go to bathroom, you won't feel the cold because body heat pushed the cold away until when body temp suddenly adjusted 10 minutes later then you will get chilly feeling. Then around 5 am then temp will go up to 72 for like 2 hours then it will drop down to 67 for the rest of the day during work week.

So with all the variable temp adjustment really does save the electricity.

During the summer, it does little opposite. The temp set to 72 when everyone is home but during the work day, the temp set to 80.

They do have the advantage of not have to have the ones in the rooms that no one is in set as high or low, depending on season, as where someone is.
