Seems everyone is talking about that show.

I wondered this too, I keep hearing about it, some British tv?

It's on PBS. Historic. I know Maggie Smith who was Professor McGonagall in Harry Potter stars in it.

But I haven't watched it. I love the British mystery series, but the ones about classes of servants and masters and manners bore me.

oh, :ty:for explaining, Botti
one of my co-workers was talking about getting some DVD of it.

Good acting, good writing, good direction, etc., the kind of thing sorely lacking these days yet oddly not missed by younger audiences....

Downton Abbey is historical fiction viewed through the lens of modern people. Part of it is historical fact, part of it is fiction, and its all conjured up by modern minds.

I've not watched the show, but my friends highly recommend it. If it is done with half the sophistication of Sherlock, I'd wager it's a great series. I'm reserving it for a time when I can give it my full concentration.
