Fly Free- Yeah, it looks like its hard for those who smokes to quit.. My mom has been smoking since she was a teen herself--She still does and shes in her 40's, unfortunately she's developing something in her lungs because she coughs often, even over the phone..:ugh: My stepdad used to smoke, he quit, I'd have to ask him how he was able to succeed into quitting for good..
yeah three years old not thirteen years old !!! HONEST !!!!!!!!!! My dad taught me how to do it !! I never forget that scene !!!! He told me to go room and wanna talk to me about something and i said sure and went up to my bedroom and he sit down front of me and show me the ciggy ... he light it up and puff it and blow the smoke and he puff it again and show me there is no smoke inside his mouth and thats how it fanstainces (sp?) me and asked him how do that ?? he show me how and cough and cough he was laugh and told me that i will get used to it so i did !! oh bloody yeah i totally agree with u... I told myself that they are very lucky than my times !!! I wish they has done long time ago but too late!! oh well but the underages still always find some way to get round to get the ciggy pack no matter u know how teenager being desperate to curious to try anything

I know a few stores who have the sticker saying "We ID" that still sell cigs to teens anyway..:smh: Recently I saw that sticker while going on the way to my son's school, I stopped to get something to drink and saw it said "Under 25? We ID" :P

thats true they WILL find ways to get cigs even paying an adult to go buy them cigs -- but in the end their cigs will be confisciated in time either by parents or the cops if caught in possession of cigs on school property (and YES they would be HAULED to the station for booking and charged with possession of cigs  a bit extreme if u ask me but ahh the voters went for it)

Why is it so hard to break a habit?

I'd say it is the security. We feel safe when we have established a pattern, which may be associated from something positive or negative that occurred in childhood. Now just deprogram yourself... lol... negative reinforcement and all. I saw this show once on this OCD stuff... when this lady was a little girl, she picked a hair strand off her head and everyone in class was very impressed with her. She associated that feeling good with the hair picking habit... this followed her into adulthood, and I could see she had bald spots.. it wasn't pretty. Had to wear a wig.

Let's say.... you want to quit smoking? I did it cold turkey, and would reward myself every day I was off the cigs. Positive reinforcement.. and I looked at disgusting pictures of what would happen with prolonged smoking... black lungs and all! I mixed in negative reinforcement with the positive reinforcement, and that worked for me. Just popped in Advils for those headaches... and I don't miss those cigs even today.

Eh, it's totally up to you, though... either stay in your old pattern, or break it consciously.. healthy, gradually, or so..

yeah i can see what u mean... I tried to use the pyschology (sp?) to reserse my mind about these but i still laugh about it and still not work ... nothing scare me off
