I would like to share what "faith" means to you here. Please, do not bash on each other. Let's just respect each other what they believe what faith means to them and, open their verses if, they would like to share. Ok ? Thanks ! :)
 
FAITH is my favorite word. I grew up with FAITH in my life.

I can see the Faith sometimes and it means to me lot.

By the way, that is good thread :ty:
 
trust each other, love each other, wouldnt betray, i used to say have a wonderful family in faith... sound beautiful, huh
 
My definition of "faith" is very, very simple. When I get up from the bed in my bedroom and I walked to the curtained window... before I uncurtain the curtain, I know that sun is up as always. Once I uncurtain, the first words in my thought: "Ah, there you are" when I see the sun climbing up slowly but surely in the sky. That's what "faith" means to me. I just know that sun is there and it is indeed there.

Now about religious sense, it is very complicate because it have different meaning... For example, Christian Coalition claimed that whoever supports conserving God's creation a.k.a. 'environment' is against "people of faith" (source: "E" magazine). I know it is quite bizarre but that's them. (note to everyone, to make clear up that I am not implying that all of Christians are like that group). I use my 'faith' moderately because blind faith itself is very danger and unthinkable.

I am going to quote an excerpt from "An Introduction to St. Paul's Letter to the Romans," Luther's German Bible of 1522:
Faith is a living, bold trust in God's grace, so certain of God's favor that it would risk death a thousand times trusting in it. Such confidence and knowledge of God's grace makes you happy, joyful and bold in your relationship to God and all creatures. The Holy Spirit makes this happen through faith. Because of it, you freely, willingly and joyfully do good to everyone, serve everyone, suffer all kinds of things, love and praise the God who has shown you such grace. Thus, it is just as impossible to separate faith and works as it is to separate heat and light from fire! Therefore, watch out for your own false ideas and guard against good-for-nothing gossips, who think they're smart enough to define faith and works, but really are the greatest of fools. Ask God to work faith in you, or you will remain forever without faith, no matter what you wish, say or can do.

That's my definition of religious sense of "faith" (moderately).

Faith is an incredible word, however faith has become a very confusing term. The reason is that we have lost the Bible definition of faith and instead think and operate on a myraid of false ideas about faith. Ask yourself if you can answer 5 questions:

1. What is faith?

2. What does faith do?

3. What does faith demand?

4. What does faith deny?

5. How does the Lord desire you to repond to faith?

Discuss politely, please!
 
"Faith" has many meanings. Faith means believe, trust, loyal, firm belief, conviction.


There are many scriptures mention faith. I can give a few verses.

Matthew 17:20- "And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to younder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you."

James 2:24- "Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only".

Ephesians 2:8- "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God".

I accepted Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior by faith, not reliable on feeling or seeing.

What "faith" means to me ?

To me, it means :

Luke 12:3
"For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith".

Acts 26:18
"To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me".

And, also another thing is that I put my faith in Him that is unseen and, yet I still trust in Him in any circumstance I may live in.

That's what I believe.
 
Faith is without measure and unseen things. Faith is great blessing than seeing. For example, I have little foods to feed but I have faith in God to provide my needs when I ask God to give.
 
hmm this is an interesting thread. Well, my church has been studying the book of Romans for a while now. Almost the whole book of Romans, Paul emphasizes that following the Mosaic laws (10 commandments), circumcision (started by Abraham), and animal sacrifices will not get you into heaven. Faith alone will get you into heaven. Paul emphasizes that in his other books of the Bible that he wrote as well.
My faith that God loves us so much that He sent his Son to die for our sins is what will get me into heaven. And now as a christian, I have a responsibility to tell others about His love for us. It's not meant to be a big secret, like the gov't is trying to do by keeping prayer out of school (a whole other topic, which I won't get into).
 
It's very interestin' to see ALL OF YOU have your own faith in a different view and beliefs. Faith is an unique word and, sometimes it comes with "fate".

Faith means don't give in.

It is like an ugly ordinary person who dream to be
a movie star...
and he goes to NYC.... and goes to NYU theatre school...
and does some plays on stage...
And tryout for broadway play, and then be
on tv, do some movies....

And keep trying until he gets up top of the world.

No matter how many times someone knock you off...
There is always a way to get back up and
still be on top of the world.

If he loses faith... he will give up...

So don't ever lose faith... :nono:
