^^I'm not one of them to encourage a woman to lose weight. If they got fatter and they're happy about it. I do not mind and that's what love is about. It is not the men's job nor the woman's job to run each other's decisions on their image but an advice is always good if he/she is willing to take it.

showing at least some level of concern for the other half's health is an examination of love, doesn't it? if not, that's a sign of neglection or emotional abuse. historically, overweight and obese -- they're risk factors which could lead to heart disease and worse. the risk factors have been well documented.

personally i want my children -- even in their 30s and 40s -- still have their mommy enjoying their precious moments or hugging our grandchildren. i guess that's me.

^^Like I said, advice is always good if he/she is willing to take it. It's never good idea to push someone into something that he/she doesn't want to. They will ask help when they want it.

Seq, your future woman will be lucky to have you! Highlands, what would you choice? smile

I pick personality cuz that outlast anything else.

I agree with u that sequ's future lady is sooo LUCKY to have sex opps seq in her life.. :)

my soon to be ex hubby was telling me i must lose weight OVERNIGHT or else?. i said or else? he said nothing.. sheesh i told him its impossible.. have to take time to lose weight.. i have been walking and eat healthy foods.. jeez at him... then now he bawled cuz he cant control me.. jeez what a crybaby! no wonder hes a mommas boy.. sigh!

i cannot disagree with you on that but what about the kids? what if the kids share their concerns of their mommy's health with you. what will you do when your other half didn't ask for help? what about the doctor who informs your other half that she needs to lose some weight or face the possibility of heart attack? i ask you these because whether you like it or not, these scenarios will happen as it had happened to some of my friends who lost their other halves to heart disease and other diseases -- putative risk factors which are associated with obesity. who will be hurt more in the end? the kids, widowers and widows.

Heart attacks do not always happen in obese people and it can happen to thin people too. They can be caused by stress, bad food and many other factors. I believe there is more stress in modern life than in the past, so more health concern appear.

There are many reason why people are obese....from pregnancy, side effects from medicine, generations and so on. My grandma was a overweight woman and she lived to 88 years old. She passed away from old age. She had stroke in the early 80's.

the studies and researches say otherwise. well you're you and i am me.

i'd rather to see my grown up kids hugging my other half in 30 years later.

My good friend who was disappointed with her ex husband because she was out with him, and he was very athletic and outgoing so after married, he becomes a potato couch and watch tv too much! So she becomes to frustrate with him also he quit the work out and overweight, so she decided divorced him also its very hurt her too! :dunno2:

Gamer12, Yeah, pretty much. Health isn't always the factor people die from it. It can be from motor accidents, suicide, disasters is other risk of dying. There is no way to escape death anyway. 10,600 people died from SUVs rolling over last year. That's in the US alone.

Life is too short to worry abut those things.. we could die tmw? never know... so LIVE, LAUGH, AND LOVE! :)

^^Yup I agree with you! I wouldn't worry about it and enjoy our lives as much we can.

I voted for personality. I am currently in love with a girl.I love her personality a lot :aw: She seems to love me for who I am ,as well.. I want to say soon this ----> Will you marry me ?

:fingersx:

What is her answer?

men and women

i'm very glad that a woman like you brought it up. i've heard this common complaint about men who left women or encouraged their girlfriends and wives to lose some weight when they [women] got fatter. i want to know if is it okay for men to do that or is it okay only for women? given that men do have same privilege -- as you and women do -- for wanting to be able to look at their lovers and desire them. now do men have the same privilege as you do?

it's a hypothetical question.
I think that before marriage it's important to know that people tend to change. whether it is as a result of weight gain or things that can happen over years of being together. i think that it is important to be willing to please your spouse. if one or the other is making a comment maybe about weight. It's easy to be offended as a woman because we want to be accepted. but it one of the spouse make a mention about it, it's important to recognize that your spouse still wants you , but would like for that area maybe to be worked on. Does that make sense, its important to recognize that if your spouse desires this than, without making a nagging time out of it, take into consideration that in the depths of his heart he is saying i'm uncomfortable with this or that. When things don't get addressed in a marriage or a relationship that's when they tend to get ridiculously out of hand. i think it's important to try and do something about it, otherwise if not, then yes at some point they will start looking at others. The book the 5 love languages is a great book to read for any long term relationship it helps to communicate a language that is important to us as individuals, and teaches how to better communicate to the other person what is important to them, it strengthens any union. When we go into a relationship we don't say this will end because of this. things get out of hand when not communicated. Weight gain is a big issue at times. I think both the man and the woman need to be willing to do what it will take to be a blessing to eachother to also keep that person from straying. we want to keep our men, then love them the way they like and teach them how to love you. Be the fantasy they want, so they won't stray. if weight is a concern, what can you do to help take care of it.Start with baby steps, and the results will come. Be consistent and don't give up.

P.s did any of that help in your question.

there is no argument about that but straight from the cdc's mouths --

In 2000, poor diet including obesity and physical inactivity caused 400,000 U.S. deaths -- more than 16 percent of all deaths and the No. 2 killer. That compares with 435,000 for tobacco, or 18 percent, as the top underlying killer.

According to the study the gap between the two is substantially narrower than in 1990, when poor diet and inactivity caused 300,000 deaths, 14 percent, compared with 400,000 for tobacco, or 19 percent, says a report from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Like tobacco, obesity and inactivity increase the risks for the top three killers: heart disease, cancer and cerebrovascular ailments including strokes. Obesity and inactivity also strongly increase the risk of diabetes, the sixth leading cause of death.

40 times of the suv deaths. this year is 2007, so this means that america lost 2.8 millions lives or more to obesity and physical inactivity alone. it's far more than what we lost to wars. where's the parade for "obesity no more" as what anti-war protesters did for iraq war?

i dare say that a question i asked is very, very good one. no? but that's for different topic.

as i recalled, the subject of the keys to happiness you had explained in your post is pretty much the same thing as marriage experts disclosed in their books and articles.

P.s did any of that help in your question.

yes it helps. thank you.
