I am curious about the posters in this forum. Who has hearing aids, cochlear implants, both, or others

I have a cochlear implant (Nucleus Freedom). I wish I could go bilateral but I know Medicaid and Medicare would not go for a 2nd CI. Oh well.

I noticed tonight that even though I can't really understand speech, my CI does help me understand people who does not sign very well...sort of like...filling in the missing parts/blanks...tonight I watched my friend sign, read his lips, and listened to his voice, and was able to understand him! :D

I wear cochlear implants. I am bilateral with Advanced Bionics Harmony. I love them!

i wear cochlear implant.. and yeah i wish i have bilaterial implant.. but no insruance will want to approve it too. that's a bummer.. but i can wait maybe someday the tech will change who knows?

im been using hearing aids when i was little girls and i not using hearing aids dues expenses affords and my mom wont buy for that my hearing aids so i would ahead without hearing aids its harders!

hearing aid in right ear only (left ear is DEAD ear, HA's are useless). Am wanting to get an implant and I probably will only be able to implant the right ear only.

In order to get the second implant or bilateral, you have to keep appealing the denials. I had to appeal around 7 denials inorder to have my bilateral CI surgery. Vanderbilt did several appeals and then Let Them Hear assisted with around a year of appeals. This organization was my life saver. Yes, I have private insurance.

I am so thankful that I waited to have bilateral instead of one. I started the process 5 years ago, but chickened out. I got serious over a year ago and it did take a year to get approval. I did not give up and it is worth it. The ability to pick up sound and words are easier with bilateral. I love it! I made my choice and wish my parents would have been done 30 years ago as a child.

I don't wear HAs anymore since the age of 11. :)

Grew up with hearing aids in both ears and now have two CIs :)

I wear two bte hearing aids since age 11, even though the doctors should have caught my deafness many years earlier.

I have hearing aid in left ear only (right ear is DEAD ear, HA's are useless, CI not recommended on right ear because it never had any function). I am thinking of getting an implant (CI) on my left ear.

One Harmony CI, too active to be bilateral. Either way, bass sounds GEWD!

I was used to have both hearing aids and CI, but my grandpa was experience the hearing loss because of his age so I gave my hearing aids to him.

I wear a CI and a hearing aid or I will be by mid November when I am allowed to wear my hearing aid full time again.

I wear a CI [Freedom] on my right ear and have a hearing aid on my left but lately I've not been wearing my hearing aid. In fact, I am seriously considering getting a 2nd CI! That's how much I love my CI. :]
