Wow, that sucks! Could he get mini implants to anchor the dentures?

Insurance will not cover any of the expense and he's not sure he really wants to do that. These dentures are weirdly made. They make him look like he has "buck-teeth" and he never did.

Sue them?

Sue them?

I don't know. He's not really that type of person. He is a real pushover and doesn't like confrontation of any sort. That might also be a large part of the issue.

Why? Did you lose one of them>>

A friend of mine is in the hospital in a coma (I know so soap opera sounding) but we didn't know until this morning, and her dog is now siting in the pound after being found wandering the streets. With no proof they will not release him to me, fighting with them to get him back.

I learned hubby's dentist is an idiot. All this money went in for all his dental work (tooth extractions and infections treated) and then the new dentures, upper & lower. He has had nothing but trouble with them. They will not stay in and the stuff used to make them stick all dissolves after an hour. He cannot eat with them as they fall out. He has been back to the dentist 7 times since getting them and just last night they finally said there is nothing they can do. He has too much of an over-bite and "cross-bite". Well, my opinion is, they should have known that when making the impressions and worked it out from there. Our options are, get new ones and pay for them again (insurance will not cover another set for 3 years) or get implants, which insurance will not cover. MIL is pissed since she paid for all of this. All the dentist told hubby was to make sure that he stayed on soft, easy to eat foods.

I too stuffer from a cross bite. My upper jaw is juvenile sized while my lower is adult sized. I have had my partial for a little over a year and still cannot eat with it in. I have a permanent bridge already in place and the partial hooks in that. My problem is that when the the partial was placed it cracked the bridge. And now I am having pain chewing on the right side. My mother tells me that it too her a while to get used to not having the connected feeling. PLUS getting Cushion Grip, thermoplastic dental adhesive will help alot. It lasts a week, or until ya take it off.

Oh, I am sorry about that. I hope you can find some way . Maybe if he is chipped and you could bring a photo of you with you friend in the coma?

He's not chipped, but I did go to about 30 different vets in her area today trying to get records. I was unsuccessful but hoping for the best :)

Adopt the dog outright. I hope your friend comes out ok. Did they ever say what happened to your friend?

See thats that part thats irritating me I asked if I could just adopt him, and they instead put a hold on him. I had money in hand with all my info to just pay for the adoption but they said that we needed to get proof of ownership.

No one is sure, her family is out of state and they won't release any information. They are letting us visit thou.

Another thing to keep in mind.... Once you adopt this dog and give it away, you will have to prove that you gave the dog away. Only 2 adoptions in the state allowed.

perhaps you should just wait until the dog is eligible for adoption but the risk is there that somebody else could adopt him.

what qualifies for proof of ownership?

Vet records or a picture. Which I don't have either, but its not a common breed and I described him perfectly. Yet they still won't release him to me, and c'mon 'his owners in a coma' how far fetched does that sound...

Really? Hmm maybe thats why they won't just do the adoption route....

I learned that my son wants to become an auto mechanic. Hopefully, if he starts on a course down here, he can continue it in Missouri after we move.

Also learned that MIL's family thinks a fruit salad is only for those on a diet and not for everybody.

So just an update, they ended up releasing the dog to me today!! He is very happy to be out of there and being spoiled with belly rubs!! :)
