I am curious what people out there think of the people who make viruses and hackers. I personally think they should need a life. It really bothers me that they are wasting their talent and time to cause havok on other people, and cost businesses alot of money. And, they screws everyone including the hackers cuz how are these costs paid for??? With higher prices and higher taxes. If a company or the government lost $2,000,000 because of a hacker, they are going to have to get the money back. And the only way to do this is to raise prices or taxes.

Just my thoughts with the recent outbreak of worms and viruses.

i totally agree matty enuff is enuff on hackers they have no life! and u know some are parents too and they should be foucusing on thier kids! not on the computer hacking away thier life

Whoops!! Looks like I am the only one supporting them. :X And if you are asking me why.. Because, without them, our computers would have been so easy to break into by someone who may be a beginner at using computers! Because, without them, we would not have stronger security online.

The hackers get the holes filled and fixed, not the software programmers.

huh? without hackers there would be no need for online security.

Since Microsoft is buying up every damn companies and merging all together in a monopoly, they will be lax in their programming because there are NO or LITTLE competition. Hackers provide the competition! Without the hackers, each and every person in Microsoft would have been lazy, fat employees. JMHO!

I think hackers are genius because the way they found many flaws and mistakes to make other people or software companies to fix flaws.

sort of like how bank robbers are geniuses because the find many flaws and mistakes in the people or companies that provide security for banks.

I am really tired of it.. It was my 2nd time that I got virus and blew my computers.. so since 2 years, I have anti-virus programs to prevent damage on my computers.. but I think its really stupid.. to destory people's computers and their business.. It really are waste of our time to work on it and make it right after all the hassle..
but now i am embarassing that guy who was caught very recent that he made virus the worm... hes from Minnesota.. It makes the Minnesota looks bad.. and the repubations how the kids being treated..
Geez!

Geez, you think you have all the answers, do you, Bush2k4?

No, I don't have all the answers, but I am brave enough to step up and post an answer if I have one. I urge others to do the same -- whether you agree with me or not! What good is a one-sided thread or forum?

If I wanted to read one-sided threads I would have gone to EEE/FRSGPM:OMR3/VP< :nana: :nana: :nana:

Ah, without hackers, our society would be boring. We need to have chaos in order to maintain an interesting society.

Whoever who lumps hackers with the creators of virii obviously doesn't know the first thing about computers, and is comfortable with demonizing what they don't understand.

A hacker is a person who is capable of finding information - whether that is supposedly protected by the law is another issue - whereas a virus creator may not even be human in the first place.

Cite names and programs, please. Otherwise, that is an unsupported assertion. Evidence walks, but bullsh!t doesn't.

Even if you could come up with an example, does one single fact support lazy generalizations like prostock's in the opening post?

There was one created by a ecard company. I don't remember the name of it, but I know if the ecard company can make something like this, so can others!

Whoohoo!! I got infected by a backdoor worm!

Did I cry? no. I just ran AVG and Stinger.
