Tried this once and lost it, I'll try again.
Went to the library today. While I was using the self check-out for some DVD's for my son, the machine just shut down on me. There were other people in line behind me including 2 people from the deaf club I went to Friday night for a movie night. When am employee cam over she started really berating me for jamming up the machine. When I asked her to slow down ans speak a little slower because I am deaf, she just got really exasperated about "ignorant deaf people and why do they even have library cards". The gentleman behind me got the head librarian and explained the situation. He also mentioned the comments the lady made. He did let them know that I did not do anything wrong. The 2 deaf ladies are really just shocked at the rudness of this employee. When all was said and done, the head librarian has made arrangements with the Florida Association of the Deaf to come out and help. The library will be having an in-service training for all employees put on by the FAD on the deaf community in the area and what they should and should not do as far as customer service.
