I see this one... We must be in the same alternate reality!
Well, there were at least two that I seem to have not posted.
I see this one... We must be in the same alternate reality!
Thinking about how to get mobile again after breaking my leg.
Get a scooter and set up a race day with Botts & RR.
Wirelessly posted

I'm thinking about how thrilled I am to have my prayers answered. I prayed to find somebody to know what it is like to walk in my shoe being a deaf mother to an autistic/deaf child. It gets better, this woman happens to be someone I knew. We weren't really friends, just a person whom I knew among the deaf community. We went to school together.
Anyway, We bumped into each other at a mutual friend's daughter's birthday party and started this "Hi, how are u doing?" kind of conversation. From there, I discovered that we had something in common - We're both deaf and our sons are also deaf and autistic. We both immediately connected and for the first time ever, in 13 years (15 years for her) we finally found somebody to talk to in our language (ASL), to share our burden, frustration, and everything in between.
I mean, I've met a lot of parents with autistic child but they all are hearing and the autistic child also turns out to be hearing too. While it is nice to have support from these hearing autistic parents which I will always be thankful for but it was nothing like having them to truly understand what it is like to be part of the Deaf Culture with adding the autism spectrum in the mix. This time, it is so different and far more exciting because now I know I have this friend to talk to with total understanding of what it is like to raise an autistic/deaf child. It is difficult and challenging to discover resources that serves for BOTH needs. She understood that as well. It's the best feeling to know I'm not alone going through this.

Thinking I would not want an interpreter who had an auditory processing disorder...
