Hopefully with all these "little" ones it is letting off some pressure to prevent a bigger one. I choose to believe that:giggle:

Our dogs use to start going crazy about 30 seconds before an earthquake hit. Does Porkie alert you?

When we lived in the Bay Area we never hung anything over our bed and always had an emergency box ready to go. A positive thought, my house withstood a 7.1 earthquake. It rocked 2 feet back and forth and it remained standing. It had damage but we were all OK. Earthquakes scared the heck out of me but as long as you are prepared the odds of getting seriously injured are pretty slim. Plus you have Porkie to keep you company.

Stay safe!!!!

Oh my goodness! 7.1 it's strong will knock things down and damage as well.

Porkie slept through it . She didn't alert me. I got up and she went back to sleep. I read a lot of fb status from my friends , they are scared.

Porkie must be a deep sleeper. I think my little Marley is so use to ignoring sounds since I can't hear them anyway. She use to jump up if the phone rang but since I don't answer it, she just ignores it.

My one suggestion is to freeze a lot of bottle water. If your power goes out they will help your refridgerator stay cool for awhile. Then you will also have clean drinking water if needed.

Just had a small quake here a few minutes ago. If you want to see a really cool online earthquake map www.iris.edu is very good. You can see how over there at Fukushima they are still having a whole lotta shakin' going on. It is a world map so you can see what is happening everywhere.

I was just a boy when the '64 earthquake hit up here. It was the second strongest earthquake ever recorded. It was really wild being in that thing, our house was had a lot of damaged. Fortunately where we were was not a tsunami. Lots of devastation here and on the West Coast. Crescent City, Ca. really got clobbered too.

I remember we were all kind of in shock. So much damage. We found the roast beef in a corner in the living room. The mashed potatoes and peas were still in the kitchen on the floor there. We made a meal of it as darkness came and the tremors were still happening. My parents booze supply was destroyed the smell of it was real strong over that part of the neighborhood. Everything glass was broken. We all were bleeding from cutting ourselves picking up broken glass.

I remember in junior high school a quake hit right after school. I was still there for some reason. It was built of two story tall preformed concrete panels. As I was running for the doors to get out I looked up, I was in the two story atrium in the entry. I saw blue sky through the ceiling corner as a stronger jolt hit and then I was out of there. The building stayed up, I never told anyone what I saw.

Thinking its funny I took a late nap and woke at 11 pm and the dogs got up thinking its time for breakfast. Not!

Wondering what I'm doing on the net at 3am in the morning?....Our electricity went out for about 20 minutes tonight...house was d-a-r-k!...I stumbled around until I found the matches and a candle....now I'm wide awake....

Been there before-- lost power for an entire week back in '11 when a lightning bolt struck a large tree branch, and said branch ripped our power meter right off, and took the wiring with it. They had to upgrade the fuse box and include a new power meter with that.

I probably shouldnt have taken the cast thing off but so worth it!!(in a lot of pain now and i will get yelled at by doctor for doing all the no-nos in the list)

You need lots of ice. Hopefully that pain will go down, and you'll feel better.
